Saw it in a gaming store the other day and was wondering if someone could explain it, is it like warhammer 40 k or something like that? Thanks

Never played warhammer 40k

Haven't played axis and allies for many years, don't really remember that much about other than the fact that we'd take over the dining room table for days

Yup.

Depends on which flavor you want now.

There A&A original
A&A Europe
A&A Pacific
A&A D-Day

The games are all setup the same way, with pretty good historical acuracy with unit placement.

Playing as the axis in any of them is rather hard, except Europe which has a winning strategy that makes the game not fun to play.

If you want a game that is similiar, but not setup identical everytime would be Attack!  but get the expansion to go with it.  Play the original once, then with the expansion and you'll appreciate everything they did with it.

Yeah, and that was just setting the game up ... actually playing it took even longer
