Why does teh FDA not have their hands in the supplement business?

Companies are making something that we ingest and effects our body.

Do you all think the majority of the supplements out there would go away if the FDA was to get involved and validate the claims?

I am not for it, I am just curious ( so please no over reacting that we are good for at arfcom).

1. They are in their business.  Look at GHB, Prohormones, ephedra based weight losss products, etc.

2. They cannot make CLAIMS. CLAIMS = drugs.  Supplement companies make no claims, only staisfaction guarantees.

3. The latest anabolic steroid control act specifically says if it makes you gain muscle its a steroid... even if its not an anabolic hormone.

This means supplements do not work other than as food.  They are regulated as a type of food/vitamin.  All the rest is marketing.
