Ahhh! There is my problem with training in these areas...They are "SPORTS" with rules, regulations, routines to memorize, etc. Not to mention the impracticality of much of what is learned.
All the martial arts are wonderful tools for instilling discipline,
and giving a person confidence. As to sticking to one style, etc for self defense IMHO it does you no good in REAL LIFE situations.
I like to take something from each and use the one or two that can be helpful to me.
Practicing a dozen or two dozen such elite moves in a limited time is more effective(for me) than knowing a whole arsenal of moves, blocks, etc.but not being good at any of them because of lack of sufficient training.
[red]A sort of "Systems Overload",if you know what I mean![/red]Unless you spend a significant amount of time in them you don't get the moves to come reflexibly!
In a fight for my life....the only one I would get into right now [;)] I want to finish it before the adversary has a chance to know I have decided to fight back.
No fancy stands,no block if I can perry,no perry if I can knock him cold without contact.
Alright, all you Bruce Lees out there.
Let me have your ire![:)]
