Quoted:
Glucosamine HCL is a naturally occurring compound that is a combination of a glutamine derivative and glucose. Glucosamine is an integral part of all connective tissue in the body including cartilage, ligaments, and tendons. It also helps people with arthritis. It is commonly mistaken with Glutamine.
When used in BodyBuilding (Glutamine) helps speed up muscle recovery after a punishing work out. If creatine is also being used they should be taken separately to avoid wasting your supplements. Creatine before work-outs Glutamine after. Other wise they will compete for the same receptors.

Pretty much what I would say.
Cartilage is the more "elatic", smoother lining of the bone on its articular surface. When the cartilage is damaged the bone begins to erode through the cartilage(as the cartilage is worn down) and the friction of bone against bone destroys the joint(Osteoarthritis AKA Degenerative Joint Disease)
It takes a while (2-3 months of taking it) before you get any effect. Some people do not believe it has any effect in cartilage repair/prevention of deterioration.
You can buy the Glucosamine and the Chondroitin Sulfate, separate or combined in one pill. They work together as a team ![:)]
I take it.It is expensive but so is a hip or knee replacement! [;)]
