CHANGES... - AR15.COM

As you can see... I have been quite busy...

I'll try to list most of the changes here:
1) Alternating Colors on Posts and a few minor adjustments to look and feel here and there. Just wanted to make it a little nicer...

2) Forums have no site nav menu... since many of you favored the traditional look, here it is. To get to the Main AR15.Com site, click on the top logo... it will of course take you to the dev site main page, not the real site.

3) Font Choices... are now executed in all areas of the forums.

4) Board Navigation... is found at the top right corner of the forums. It will allow you to get between the different discussion forums quickly. Note the drop down ONLY shows up at the main forum page for each board.

5) Fonts adjusted so large is LARGE and small is small...

6) Message Boxes increased in size...

7) Quotes will now capture who was quoted...

8) Date Ranges for board were expanded to have 2, 3, and 7 days... cant remember if I added 5.

9) Administrative Posts will show up at the top of Forums posted too... no concern for you guys, but you'll notice them and wonder...

10) Pages will no longer CACHE on your machines (I hope) so no more refreshing if you do not adjust your client settings.

11) No more 80 char limit!!! It was a protective measure which is not needed here.

12) IMAGES are now back to the [img][/img] form with Http:// optional... you can use it or now...

13) URLs are not back to the classic [url][/url] format and also do not need http:// when posted...

14) Paging function was modified slightly and will BOLD the current page you are on while still showing up on the left hand side next to the folder.

15) Session Timeout was kicked up a few minutes. If you still seem to get logged off during posting, email or post it in the tech support and we can kick it up another 5 minutes if necessary.

A few other minor things here and there, and there will most likely be a bug or two roaming around in here. PLEASE post them to the tech support forum and if there is a problem needed personal attention, them by all means email me.

Ooooh. Pretty! The navigation bar wasn't hurting me too bad before (I run 1280x1024 resolution), but it does look nice having the whole site for content. I think everyone is going to be pleased. Thanks GoatBoy!

I cannot scroll all the way to the right for some threads. I can read this thread okay, but the toopic you left today under the "news" heading will not let me scroll all the way to the right so I could not find our what Ed sr. did.

I tried changing font size but it did not work.

GB...

Phuleezzzz fix the window size... it's bad enough to have to scroll waaay right to read the posts... but in some cases the 'reply' icon won't even come onto the viewable window when scrolled all the way right...

This wasn't a problem with the left menu (which I thought a waste) but would much rather have it and no scroll bars...

FWIW... I seldom if ever have this problem on ANY other sites excepting when certain posters manage to overcome the default deal somehow...

Hep us out if ya can... this is a major hassle... I 'preciate the work you've put in and trust me I know how frustrating it can be... you have my empathy... so how 'bout some sympathy... ;)

PS: Is it possible that lifting the 80 character limit is the culprit... if so, how 'bout reinstating it... not sure what the problem was with it anyway... anybody wish to enlighten me...

I think the choice of black background isn't correct, since most websites will have a light background with black text. I had to make a custom setting just to be able to read the posts. I suggest a light gray background so black text can be used, or some combination that is easy on the eyes, of which light background/ dark text is a good choice. HKPRO has a foreground/background setup that is viewable too. I can't comment about other changes until I can be sure I'm viewing everything, which at the moment I'm not sure. A wide format is very nice though. I got cabin-fever from the other layout.

I had the font size set to large before and when the text came up this morning, it about blew me out of my chair. This is great!!!

I like the "new" look also.
