There will be an update tonight (or tomorrow if things go off course.)

The update will be quite significant as part of it was already rolled out Friday to improve performance. Think of this as the second half of that. With the performance update having gone in, only a few things need to be "tweaked" on it to complete it. (Another set of speed upgrades should go in next week I hope!)

Along with the performance issues, this upgrade will answer a few of your long awaited prayers.

1) SPEED!!!
-- This is pretty much completed, the rest of it goes into effect tonight. Mostly minor things that got overlooked or modified slightly.

2) AUTO LOG IN!!!
-- I need to write up a little information on how the site handles it, so I will do that now. You will be able to set an "auto login" cookie (small file stored on your pc) which will automatically log you in upon coming to the site. The way it works is written below until the help file is done.

3) FORUM EMAIL TOOLS!!!
-- The ability to toggle whether to receive an email, per topic, everytime someone posts a reply. Also the ability to fire off a quick email to another person with a topic link.

4) SPELLCHECKER!!!
-- As of right now, this is the final piece which is being tested and MAY not make it in tonights patch. The SpellChecking is done through another site and will not lag AR15 what-so-ever. The only problem is, when you go to run the spellcheck you need to keep in mind that you will be running it through someone else's site and performance is 100% out of our control.

5) New Smilies and Animations!
-- Ok nothing big, but what the hell!

6) Misc Fixes and Tweaks...
-- Nothing to get yer panties in a bunch over, just some typical upgrades to code, cleaning of functions, and so on.

7) Email Addresses???
-- Finally, in an effort to provide our team with a set of better communication tools, we will BEGIN to assign a few AR15.COM email addresses. These will NOT be publicly available for a while, so please do not ask how someone got it or if you can have one. They are only being provided to a few members who are being given staff positions. The staff is expected to grow as new code goes into place and more information will be provided as we decide on how best to roll this out. All I can say about this is that HOPEFULLY, you will all have an opportunity to have one in the coming months.

Again, PLEASE do not email or harass myself or any other member of the staff, or anyone who is given an AR15.com email address. We know everyone is excited about this and again we're looking at the best way to roll this stuff out to you.

When you log in now, it does not force you to the main page of the site where the site news is posted, it returns you to where you where when you logged in.

This means you should keep up to date on the front page news, well maybe when things pick up a bit.
