I'll resonate what Repairman Jack said.  If you go live on monday, then disregard, but a Thankgiving day/BF/CM weekend release might cause issues for some folks.

Especially for guys like myself who have no idea what WWJDIHWTEA and DTWMAGA acronyms mean.

Long story short, we wanted to create a kick ass tool to handle creation of animated avatars easy for everyone. Well that's not going to happen for a while, so when we made the decision we added normal support for animated avatars. (Yes, it's live right now for beta testers.) The new file size limit is 40k, but the images must be properly sized to be uploaded.

So what you have now is two options for making an avatar. 1) Create your own and upload it to the site. It must be the proper 500x250 size and under 40kb. 2) Upload a 2MB JPG or PNG and use the new avatar creation system to zoom and crop the image with a couple mouse clicks and then have it create the avatar for you.

Few more bug fixes went in tonight as well. I am hoping for release next week. The site, while different, is not a massive change in the sense of where things are located. It's actually almost the same to use, with a few exceptions. The first is the menu, but it's much better, although mouse hover driven now. The second it the post editor, which has merged BBCODE and WYSIWYG so you can toggle between the two to preview your post. Again, most things were made easier, faster, and smoother.

So in English or Español; what you're saying is that I can have my avatar still right

In Chrome, the space bar doesn't work, under quoted text. You have to hit the enter key, to go down to the next line, or all your text remains smashed together.

The @ feature will make it so much easier to use. So tedious having to check and remember every thread to see if your post was quoted or replied to. Thank you!

Must be a WYSIWYG or mobile site issue because I use Chrome on the laptop and the phone and never had that problem. But I don't use WYSIWYG editor or the mobile site.

Too bad would be one of the easiest improvements the site could make.

The overall design and layout is similar when you get into the forums and threads. Navigation at the top of the page will be different however, with the use of drop down menus, versus the bar of communities and tools that exist on the current, now dubbed old, site. This is shown in the image above, where you can make out the typical top of the site. The user tools are much easier to see and use and have moved to the top right of the page. To ensure ease of use and the ability to jump to where you want to go quickly, we have added a sticky bar, barely visible in the second photo, which will keep all these links at your fingertips.

It's probably obvious and I am just thick, but where is this sticky bar in the new UI?  And is it configurable?

Someone else mentioned it, but can we get some sort of download so we can use the emoticons the site uses for everyday use?

Also: I use the current mobile version because my internet is my phone,  no internet is available at my home yet. I use the mobile version to ease downloading page times and data usage. Will there still be a "mobile" version? I know there has been a different mobile version talked about for a few years.

The new site version has mobile. Light years better than the current version.

I personally hated the mobile site and always browsed the reg site on my phone. I've been using the new beta mobile site for a few weeks and it's fantastic.

I believe that he was referring to a bar that stays at the top of the screen as you scroll down.

I only see this when using my desk top, not on a mobile device.

Top left are buttons for a forum drop down and a forum tools drop down.

Top right is a user tools drop down and link to the messenger.

Not sure if it will be very visible in the photo that I am attaching.

like most other things, it could use many improvements but lately it seems any time someone tries to fix things they only fuck it over completely and make me learn everything I already use and know for no real advantage. a big hobby parts website I use often just remade their website and while it was quirky to use before I had it sorted and could use it to do what I needed. new site is almost completely unusable. The new Iphone update was a total mind fuck and improves NOTHING. Don't do that.

ETA I FUCKING HATE STUPID MOBILE SITES!!!! if I wanted a dumbed down version of a website I would browse with a 1997 nokia. I didnt pay $700 on a 1080 smart phone to use a fucking piece of shit stupid mobile browser.

With the new version here you will have the option of using the mobile version or the full version.

I really don't believe that it will take you long to get used to it.

I never really liked the mobile version before now but I have found that I prefer it over the full version while using my phone.

YMMV

Full version no longer reflows properly on my Note 4 using Chrome, which sort of sucks.  Now I am forced to use the mobile version to avoid horizontal scrolling.

It's much more a "full site" feel, just configured to mobile. It works great, haven't found any limitations yet.
