Ok ladies and gentlemen, finally some bright news in our cloudy world.
For those who are NOT aware, our old hosting company shut it's doors after being bought out by a larger company. They apparently sent out 3 month notices to everyone BUT us. The reason was an oversight because we rented office space from them and not a simple rack or cage.
At this time we're on temporary lines we could get from the cable company. (Business cable... over T speeds, but expensive and not as reliable.) We've packed the lines full and thus why during peak use times the site is slower than a dead turtle. (That's SLOW!)
We've just entered into a commitment (finalized now) with a local company to get high speed lines drawn out for us. This presents a few issues for us. First off, a long term contract means we need to make sure our ends meet. Hosting was pricey before, but this is a HUGE step up in costs. Secondly, we are now 100% responsible for everything outside of a physical problem with a line. We're pulling some personal favors and resources to cover power systems, networking hardware, etc. and will be adding the additional networking work into our everyday tasks. Finally, we've decided that having room to "grow" was essential, so we'll be up and running with OVER DOUBLE the BW we had before. (This means the site should FLY!)
All in all, we were faced with the decision of letting down a lot of people with slow speeds, refunding people and calling it a good run (ie closing shop), or taking a chance on a multi-year contract and insuring a commitment to push new boundaries. We chose the latter and although a bit nervous, we're very excited to have closure on this and direction.
For any companies out there, we may be seeking to find a pair of sponsors to help ensure we cover our costs. If there's any interest, please contact me! (Figured I would slip that in! [=D])
For the Industry Partners and Dealers, we thank you for taking a chance to help us out and for keeping things running. Without you, none of this would have been possible. Our focus has shifted and will be more evident in the coming weeks as we make concerted efforts to bring the members and companies together to discuss products, buy and sell goods, and grow together into what the industry should be: a personable exchange of items and ideas.
For team members, we thank you for everything you have done for us and will continue to use the funds you contribute to providing top of the line equipment and resources, while making the push to put more and more of it back into your hands in the form of firearms, clothing, and so forth!
For everyone else, thanks for your time, your patience, and your support. It's not about money, it's about being patient and having your voice heard. We're hear to provide a platform, you're hear to scream at the top of your lungs that we will not allow our rights to be stripped from us.
I can safely say that AR15.Com will be around for a few more years and we hope to make them memorable ones with a larger impact on the political arenas, firearm businesses, and each others lives. Stay safe and keep fighting the good fight.

(The new network lines will be INSTALLED by the end of April! We'll keep everyone posted as to when things will change over!)
