Our Temple decided to send a truck to Houston, put out the call for donations.
Half assed dumbass in charge failed to inquire as to costs to ship.
Truck shows up with a 50 cents per pound shipping charge, or 15K to fill the truck (big box, not a semi, unsure of size)
Temple members fill truck with all the crap they could find in their homes, including water and canned food, which while nice, is in no way remotely cost effective to ship at 50 cents a pound.
What a cluster-fuck that was.
You can have Amazon drop-ship a pallet of water for $800 to $1200 bucks, depending on bottle size.
We should have just cut a check for the same amount to a local temple to spend as they needed to help. It would have been much more effective.
I'm happy to donate to anything you might put together.
