The IMS Plus lock doesn't require drilling the can, and that's exactly what I was looking for.. A lockable can with an intact seal.

A definite advantage over the other designs.

After speaking with someone there, I just faxed a request to IMS for quantity pricing of their no-drill ammo can locking setup, both with and without their padlock. I'd personally prefer to have mine all keyed-alike with a decent quality padlock.

I'll let you know when I get their reply.

I was thinking I could just machine a few of those myself, but that price is pretty damn good. It would be more expensive for me to make it myself than it would be to buy them.

Thanks for the link!

If they can give it to you at a good price without the padlock, i rather get my own and keyed alike.

Can we say <wisper>group buy <wisper>

I think IMS gives .mil discounts. But they are'nt a high volume seller. It's a smaller surplus store i used to go to alot when i was stationed at Scott AFB, IL. Nice enough guys, but i doubt we'll be able to get a volume discount.

but if we can, definitly count me in for a few.

I use luggage locks on mine with a 3 combination lock. They work perfectly and the combonations are all the same.

I like the Master brass combo locks that you can set your own combo. Keys suck.

Do those IMS locks work on the 30 cal cans?  Their website indicates a bunch of types, but not .30 (unless I'm blind ).

I was wondering the same thing, as they do not mention the .30 cans.

I would think NOT
Take a look at the boxes on their site (in the first post in this thread)
It looks like the .30 cal box has a MEGA hole in the handle compared with the others that are listed that work with the lock.

I have not heard back from the guy there yet, but when I do, you all will be the first to hear.

There's too many friggin numbers and passwords to remember already!
What are you gonna do when you wake up one morning and found that you've forgotten all those damn passwords and pin numbers?

Correct. As the kit is, it will not work. However, you can use a large washer or piece of metal to make it work.

Gave those folks a call.  They come in blister packs, so no seperating the lock and can't get them keyed alike.

It's a retail package they are just a reseller.

No discount either as we couldn't buy enought to make it worth it.  They said there is very little markup as is.

Any way of tracking down the actual maker and maybe arranging a special run?

I think I'm gonna order one just to see the package and try that.

Just wanted to keep you guys up to speed on this one:

It's now been a week since I requested quantity and without-lock pricing from IMS.
The guy I spoke to last week told me today that he has not yet heard back from the manufacturer with the requested pricing, so he still has no info for us. Hopefully this week.

Again, as soon as I hear anything, I'll keep you informed.

ps   Jersey guys:  Write to the six members of the Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee and ask them to not let A2185 out of committee and onto the floor

pps   New Yorkers: Hearing about Pataki I don't know whether to wish him well or to hope that the infection kills him. So I'll leave that for you guys. Speak up!
