Hi guys,

Since I've been out around the Syracuse area a couple of times in the last couple of months for classes with some of you, and people know I've been out there, I've been asked for a good place for a couple to spend a few days together around Syracuse.

Something nice to do, a nice place to stay, romantic type things to do.  You get the idea.  They've just started seeing each other, and are around 30 years old.

Can anybody give me any suggestions?

Thanks,
Rob

How many miles you want to travel?

It doesn't really matter.  Just that general area.  I guess within an hour of there would be good.

Unfortuinatly unless you snowmobile there isn't a hell of a lot too do up here.
Festival of lights is on the West side of Syracuse, it's a really nice walk thru a park that has been decorated with Christmas lights.
An hour North is Watertown. I don't know of anything going on here, but I'll supply a link that a good source of info: www.newzjunky.com/
Maby SP10 and/or Georgestrings will chime in, there Syracuse locals and know the hot spots.

So are they looking for a B & B to get away to, or something fairly urban with lots of night life?

My guess would be more towards urban/night life stuff.

Aha! Now I know your board name Rob!

If your friend wants to spend a few bucks, Mirbeau is supposed to be a very nice
spa. I have never taken my wife here because A) I'm not romantic and B), I'm a cheap bastard

Skaneateles is about 6 miles further west from where you turn to go to the club. Also some nice restaurants in town( also some pricey ones).

I've been here for a while, but I don't do too much posting.
Hell, most of those have only been in the last few months!

Thanks for the tip.  I'll add that one to the list.  I don't know how much they're looking to spend, but that one sure looks nice.

Let me ask a young lady I  know from the area who works at a 4 star 4 diamond facility in the area. She should know a few good places.

How about a nice romantic tour of the Remington factory in Ilion.

If you want they want to do a little gambling, Turning Stone Casino may fit the bill.  I think the new hotel there is completed.

I get one of those every night monday thru Friday, 8 hours at a time!
Work there 8 hours a day, and the romance is over quickly!

Mirabeau is where My lady friend works.
She suggests if your on a budget, go across the street to the sister  property, Finger Lakes Lodging, they have equally wonderful Lodging and Dining.

Well, there are a few nice places to stay right off Carrier Circle(right on the Thruway) Embassy Suites is one of them - and a bunch of good restaurants in town....

I enjoy sackets harbor.  It's quaint, has a real nice microbrewery, and a B@B.  Don't be alarmed by the different types of lifestyles that frequent there.
