Sir, thank you for your service to the Country. Congratulations on the birth of another United States Marine. Do you have him saluting yet??
We are deeply honored to have you join the AR15.com family. As a hunter also, I am thrilled to learn of your intended use for your rifle. It is much deserved, and I am glad Helldog40 had the idea. God bless you and your family. |
Welcome to the site! I only wish we could do more to make you and every other service member feel as appreciated as you really are...
Congrats on the birth of your child, I am expecting my second son in a couple of months and it is truly a life-changing experience! I hope you come to find that you can always turn to the membership here if you ever need anything, especially when you are away. And, most importantly and above all else, stay safe! |

Helldog - I'm having the Starlight case shipped to the address on your first post. Hopefully it will go out tomorrow or the next day so you should have it within a week!
By the way, what are the donations up to?????? |

Hdog how close are we to this? Let me know if we need anything else.
I'd say we're about halfway there if we want to put an AImpoint on the rifle....still some pledges to be received....I dunno guys...I don't want anyone to give more than they are comfortable with....I have already <ahem> "restrained" a couple guys from going too far "above and beyond"... What's the group opinion: Should I link this to GD and let everyone have a chance at it? Do we forego the scope? LMK.... |
I think if we wanna make this happen we might have to open it up to the GD.
Well, there is certainly nothing wrong with opening it up. I think before we do that though, we should list out exactly what we are looking to get, in terms of gear, so we can perhaps set a "goal" for people. (I think this tends to drive participation a little more)
So, we have: Armalite AR10A4 Carbine - SEBR 2 10rd Mags (?) Starlight Rifle Case Aimpoint Based on this, assuming ~$300 for the Aimpoint, the case is already paid for, and the cost of the rifle, how much more money do we need? If we set that as a goal, it might help... |
By the way Mark, I emailed Grant directly for the price on the Aimpoint. (to the right address this time...) I'll let you know as soon as I hear back from him.
I see no reason to limit it--especially if it means not having everything. I ended up with some guys a little frustrated they couldn't donate to the Avila knives b/c I *only* put it in GD, and they didn't see it in time. I still ended up with almost (time will tell) too much money, in about three days. I'd say go for GD. |

Are you willing to take a donation from a former upstate resident?
Gerry |
HD,
....how about I throw in a completed GunnyG/Armalite Kit 20 rounder, that has been field tested and found good to go? |
Hell yeah Gerry....you're the smartest of us..you got OUT! edited for spelling. |
You Betcha Gunny! can you slap a sticker from your Wing on it? |
Also gents, the thread has been linked to GD for a couple hours now..over 100 reads and the only posts were BTT from me, so go and talk it up if you will please....However, we DID get another $100 from some girl in NY named "Lorie40".....
You betcha Gunny....I think the OD and black would match the rifle nicely....
HD,
Does the SEBR already come w/ Armalite's 1 pc 30 mm or 1" scope base? [as he roots through his gun cabinet drawer of extra AR-10 stuff.....] |
Gunny - it does not come with a scope mount but we are looking to include an Aimpoint with it so, if you've got an Aimpoint mount, you would be the man!
Mark - I sent you an IM on the price for the Aimpoint, its a deal! |
FMJunkie,
I've got a NIW factory 30mm 1 pc mount for a traditional scope... One thing neat about this kind of rifle...put in a 5 rd mag and it's NY legal for hunting. Want to ask if the good captain would like the option to change scopes for different applications? |
Diesel06, Thank You for your Service and Congratulations to the both of you on your new baby boy.And Welcome to the board.
Thought I was too late ! Check going out Monday ! |

Marine 2112 reporting for duty
I will donate my time for the build and I do have many new parts, also I have a HBAR assembled and a Varmint with optics. Both have been test fired and function like a well oiled machine. |
Top: No need to skin your knuckles, I located an factory Armalite from the 2003 SEBR deal....
However, stand by, I may very well need advice on attaching the optics we buy as I'm an old ironsights kind of nitwit... |
No problem Hell Dog, standing by for you, also check your pm from me, the offer for the donation of proceeds of the sale.
I am unsure if posting that would be proper protocol here in this thread, but I will leave it to your discretion. Semper Fi |
Ill be in for 10 or 20 when i get my next paycheck. We asked brasspile about a paintjob for him?
John |
She's a dark-haired hottie too--I've seen her. |
Somebody give me an update! How are we doing here?
Helldog - did you receive the Starlight case yet? |
Brian, you're a better man that I. Watch your back and get home so you can test this bad boy out, and congrats on the new baby.
$20 sent via Pay Pal. Not much, but about all a poor college student can afford at the moment. Let me know that you recieved the money. Nick |
Like my mama always told me, "it's not the $$$ it's the thought" - you have a good heart dude. |
While the sentiment is valid, let's have the truth: It was your STEP-mama, 'cause when your mama got a look at that face she up and left.... But seriously folks, Here's where we stand: 1) The rifle is PAID FOR. I just got back from the PO and have Money Orders being sent out ot the seller today or Monday latest. 2) My PO box office doesn't open unitl 10 today, but I see a large, case-sized box waiting for me through the window. Edited to add: I have the case and a few more donations. The rifle is paid for and we have $100 toward the Aimpoint...I'm going to call FMJunkie and order that sucker today so we have it in time....the presentation SHOULD take place next weekend...roadtrip to Rochester, anyone? 3) We are doing well on donations for the scope/mount...I'll have to do a final accounting since I haven't gotten the snail mail for a3 days and there have been some Paypal donations as well. Concerning Paypal: There are two donations that I have been forced to "Deny" since the senders' Paypal account was linked to a credit card. This is my personal account that I usually use to pay out for purchases and is not set up like a merchant account and, as such, CANNOT receive CC payments. I will contact the two senders and try to make other arrangements. At the least, I will pay the amount they sent out of my pocket until we resolve payment. Please do not think I didn't want your $$, I just couldn't accept it... IM/emails confirming receipt of all donations to date should be done by this afternoon. We are fast approaching completion of this project...thanks to all for their generosity. I will be talkng to the Capt. this weekend...it looks like we will present in Rochester sometime between Aug 19th and 24th! Watch for a NEW thread containing a "Thank You" list of contributors as well as details on the presentation. If you are considering a roadtrip to Rochester, LET ME KNOW so I can check out hotels, (otherwise we have to pitch tents on EdS's. lawn.) |
HeelDog40(sp) gets sassy with me AFTER he cashs my check!!! Roadtrip??? Actually I am pretty up for it IF you drive!!! NO Shit! I really want that autograph pix, shake his hand cool - I shook Audie Murphy's hand! |
Well, since Lorie has to be away on business next weekend , I AM kinda looking for a beeotch to keep me company. Actually, this depends on whether I drive up or grab a puddle-jumper and fly....I really won't know until next Thursday or so.... Stay tuned.... Also, if anyone considering going has a mini- or full-sized van we could carpool...I only have the passenger front seat in my truck to leave room for tools and crap... so it's limited to two people max... |
Puddle jumper - can I stop at the first open ... first? I hate flying. Dramamine would NOT help this. |

And classy too!! |
