Manhatten isn't unsafe in most areas where you would be, even at night in the "touristy" areas. We (the g/f and I) go there twice a year (she has friends in the city).

The weather is supposed to be really nice, Cantral Park, The Intrepid, Empire State Bldg., catch a Broadway Play, Visit Chinatown/Little Italy, bars galore, street food festivals, shouldn't be too tough to have a good time.
