As has the Bowie show.
I was on my phone copying the address from the Whipp Farm website to drop into my GPS program when I realized their web site said the show had been cancelled. Hope no one else was headed there this morning. |

Whos going to the fort worth show this weekend?
Hoping to find an HK P30L |

The Audie Murphy show in Greenville is usually pretty small, but is also usually well attended by many locals and lots of interesting stuff comes out of the woods. Same way with Longview where i will be set up. Longview will be 3-4 times the size i think, or at least the building seems so. Heck, this is ARF.com! Go to both this weekend!

I've sold all the guns I want to sell, so I'm waiting on an 01 FFL before I get any more. OK, AAR for Greenville and Sulfur Springs...
Greenville was, as last year, relatively tiny...BUT for us, it was good, a fair amount of military stuff. Picked up an Enfield grenade launching cup, 2 USN MK I knives, 1 Camillus, 1 PAL, and a nice repro WWI German sling to go onto one of my WWI 98's. A ppsh sling for the boys ppsh, he picked up a nice Swede Navy marked bayo and frog, and a couple of sealed bottom grenades, an M26 and M67...cool, since they have solid bottoms like actual grenade bodies...an interesting little show. There was an Uzi in the room to the right, but I didn't check the price...at least there was some different stuff from the usual Premier show with the same people set up. Worth the drive for me... The Sulfur Springs show, meh, it was a bust for me. About twice, 2 1/2 times the size of Greenville, but all modern and Fudd stuff, which does nothing for me. One guy had some military stuff on his table, but his prices were stupid. There was a cool G3 with a scope set-up...but figured the price would be stupid, so didn't look. If you are fairly close and like modern/hunting stuff may be worthwhile...again, different vendors than what you normally see around DFW. I ran into my buddy Matt at Greenville, he had like 4 tables (all military), he will be putting on a new show, Militaria/Gun, in Lufkin in January....I will likely get 4 tables at that show since it will draw a heavy militaria crowd. Also talked and will be doing Tulsa with him in November, so looking forward to that! |

My AAR for Greenville - picked up a weathered very dark M1 carbine stock - $20, used cheapie rail mountable green laser - $5, daylight bright to 50 yds, tested it outside on the golf course grass. Saw an Anderson AR (scoped) for $1900. You read that correctly. Next table over had an AR for $700. Prices were generally $100 over FW, some higher than that. Half empty ammo boxes on some tables - sometimes w/ mixed calibers, priced & marked appropriately. Lots of bayonets. Prices were all over the map, as illustrated. 2nd day @ the show, and prices hadn't adjusted for the guy next to them.
Very small, I would suggest going on Saturday & getting a look @ the Audie Murphy museum. I probably won't go again as a punter unless there happens to be another show in the area, but glad to finally see it. ETA: We lunched at TaMolly's, quite decent & inexpensive TexMex. Lunch specials good on Sundays. Get there early as they were packed even before the Baptists let out. |

My buddy Matt had some really nice milsurps at his tables, including a very scarce Hungarian 35M...$1100 was pretty reasonable for it if you want one. What were you thinking for the 10th, drive down to Waco to check that one out? |

Yep, on the 10th, drive down to Waco, think it's on the NW side, and 35 is under construction in town. It's an amazing show for the size. I'm gonna hit Poolville the morning of the 11th, they always schedule it opposite Mesquite Big Town, but Big Town is closed @ the moment, so... On the 4th, I'd like us to do a gun show marathon, 3 shows in one day. Thinking starting in Waco, early lunch in Waco or the Dove's Next in Waxahachie, then the Waxahachie show, finish up in Glen Rose. Anyone have an alternate order or restaurants? |

I took my Garand in for a buddy of mine to look over. (42 receiver, 53 barrel, gauged 2nd 2) I didn't think the two guys at the door were going to give it back to me. Every dealer in there knew what was in the case but nobody made an offer. |

Ok, have a tentative plan for next Saturday's Gunshow Krawl:
0800 - Breakfast in Glen Rose, location TBD - 1 hr 0900 - Glen Rose show - 1 hr 1000 - Depart for Waxahachie - 1.5 hr 1130 - lunch at The Dove's Next, Waxahachie - 1 hr 1230 - Waxahachie show, visit w/ tacton - 1.5 hr 1400 - Depart for Waco - 1.5 hr 1530 - Waco show - 1.5 hr 1700 - Dinner in Waco - location TBD 2100 - Tequila shots 0300 - Bail set 0700 - @Aimless springs us 0900 - Baptist service where we can dry out & repent Any suggestions, post up. Unfortunately, 287 is still under construction between Midlothian & Waxahachie, which no matter what we do is gonna slow us down, so I've figured in a little extra time there. They're also still working on 35 right through Waco, which could back up to the north a bit, so we have to add some time there. HenryKnoxFineBooks is in for the Gunshow Krawl, Motown_Steve will join us fer lunch at The Dove's Nest. The more the merrier! We need suggestions for breakfast in Glen Rose @M35ben & dinner in Waco. |

View Quote George's is always my first suggestion (where we met to show off my AR) but Kim's Diner is less than two blocks from Lee Lockwood and is very very good (no beer tho IIRC). If you're in the mood for Mexican Hecho en Waco is down by the river and is very good and there's always La Fiesta, Ninfas, and Trujillo's (one of my favorites). For seafood it's a tossup for me between Tejun and Friday's, both are excellent (that being said I'm a Cajun and fried fish kinda guy). There is a ton of new stuff downtown tho and plenty of food trucks but it'll be busy with all the Magnolia crowd Oh and Waco Drive pro tip: depending on where y'all get dinner of course but it you end up taking Waco Drive back north towards I35 to head home just be sure to take the turn for Business 77/New Dallas Highway before the overpass and follow it all the way north, you'll eventually pop out just south of Elm Mott next to that big Road Ranger and you'll avoid all the really congested intersections. For those who haven't taken an I35 expedition through Waco in the last few years the construction has really screwed up anything that passes under it from loop 340 down to Valley Mills Dr. ETA: honestly with weekend + holiday traffic I'd actually do the reverse of that and just dodge the construction all together, that's how I'll make my way to the show provided nothing comes up |

No matter how important it is, it can be taken WAY too fucking seriously.

backbencher, I might just make lunch on Saturday. I'm a definite maybe.
How are AR15 lower prices these days? I want to build a couple pistol lowers, but I'm willing to wait if prices are still outrageous. |

I'd check online - I was able to pick up 3X Andersons for $50/ea from a site sponsor a few weeks ago. Complete guns have come down to reasonable levels - next to the $1900 Anderson I saw in Greenville was a $700ish parts gun. |
