I will say that the local law enforcement I had "WAY down South Texas was a "You Ain't From Around Here Vato - You in a WHOLE Heap O' Trouble"...
I was doing a dealer trade in a brand new shiny Honda Pilot. Driving with several local old boys in the what looked like ranch or work pickups. We all are in line on the two lane, Pass a Sheriff just before Pharr... We are ALL going the same speed.
He pulls around the Cowboy behind me, and lights me up. (got a $255 ticket)... Reason. Temp Dealer Tags = You ain't local = Pay the Justice of The Peace you won't be able to vote for or against...
Most interactions I've had with the law have always been great, but the Amigo who pulled me over was NOT Tejas Friendly to this Gringo...
Used my Lawyer (Pre-Paid legal) who just had me Pay the fine and then got ticket dismissed on deferred adjudication for 90 days of no tickets.
Basically just a big "Squeeze the Gringo" racket...
On the other hand, I got stopped coming out at the Border Patrol Check Point and had a in the box Shotgun in the back (bought it for my son to waterfowl hunt when I went through Wharton on the way down) Border Patrol Guy saw the labeling on the box and asked. When I told him a cammo'ed 3.5" magnum pump shotgun for my 15 year old son. The Agent big smiled and gave me the ZZ Top wave on through...
Nice Guys there!
