Border crackdown nets arrests, seizures

SAN ANTONIO -- Authorities have arrested 28 people and seized explosives, weapons, drugs and cash in a task-force crackdown that started in July in Laredo, federal officials said Friday. The task force is made up of federal, state and local police who coordinate efforts and exchange intelligence with Mexican law enforcement. "We are working day and night to dismantle these criminal organizations working at the border," said Julie Myers, assistant secretary for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
