EL PASO, TX. - According to law enforcement officials directly involved in the border incursion two weeks ago, the cross-border confrontations are "getting personal."

The confrontation started ten days ago with drug smugglers trying to bring illegal drugs across the border in SUV's east of El Paso. Mexican authorities have now removed the SUV that got stuck in the Rio Grande and was torched by men in military uniforms on January 23rd.

While there are few signs remaining of last week's standoff, matters are anything but calm in Hudspeth County. According to law enforcement officials, things are escalating on the border in Hudspeth County.

During a ride-along Thursday with the Hudspeth County Sheriff's Department, one deputy, who has been with the department since the 1960's, told ABC-7 that this is the most tense matters have ever been along this area of the border.

In the past few days, Hudspeth County Sheriff's Department deputies and their families have received threats to stay off the Rio Grande. Sheriff Arvin West told ABC-7 Thursday morning, before departing for Houston that the Mexican military is behind all of this.

Sheriff West said, "There is no doubt in my mind -- from the first time going back to a couple of years ago and every time in between --- it's the Mexican military. In a nutshell, everybody's been trying to tell everybody that they were here...they've been here ...[and] they come here quite often, regularly."

Now Sheriff West is having to deal with threats being made against his deputies and their families. One Sheriff's Deputy, who refused to appear on camera out of fear, described the situation today in Hudspeth County as "very dangerous." and now, he said, "it's getting personal."

The deputy added that "he is very leery of a firefight erupting on the border just east of El Paso."

The Mexican military have been working for the cartels, and providing them cover for smuggling drugs for quite some time.  The Rio Grande in El Paso / Hudspeth counties is very close to Highway 10, and is a preferred crossing area.

I spent time in October with the Texas Minutemen on the border, on the river bank and levee road, and there were Mexican military (there was no mistaking who they were.... US Border Patrol (BP)  (off the record, of course) said "yep, those are Mexican military)) all over that line.  Not to mention the mountain ranges a few miles south of the river had dozens of military and trucks and such all over it.   If you are on that side and not working for the cartels, you'll end up dead.. there is no option.

We did a number of overnight watches right on the river bank.  Very scary.  Through the NV goggles, we saw Mex military and cartel guys scrambling around..

The ranchers have been threatened with execution in the past for simply locking up their road gates on their own property.. the drug runners didn't like that...

We close the border or we lose the country..  That's how I see it.

By The Way, my time on the border last October was half in Hudspeth County... a mile or two from "Neely's Crossing' where the big stand off took place.   I know the area well.

Sometimes, I wish I WAS one of those ranchers.

Just send a few sniper teams down there and I do beleive that they will not take any shit from those mexican military folks.  After they have, shall we say, removed a large number of them from the gene pool it will send a very strong and clear message and you wouldn't even have to speak english to understand the message.  If the encounters escalate, then just send more sniper teams.  

I lived in that area for awhile, and been to Neelys Crossing, a lot of crazy stuff is going on down there.

I live in El Paso and was recently night hunting in for coyotes in Hudspeth. I am not too sure of where I was in relation to the place where the standoff happened, that is why I take my ar15 when I go there.
I  agree that things are bad and getting worse. I can't believe that our government does not take more drastic steps to stop this.
I for one whole heartedly agree with sending snipers down there.
The sad thing is you know if some were to engage the Mex. military our government would arrest you and deport over to Mexico in a heart beat!

All in all I think it comes down to underestimating our Governments involvement with the Mexican Government.  The war on drugs is and always has been a load of nonesense.  There is no intention of sealing the border.  Not to mention if all this Free Trade Area stuff continues to move forward, we'll be powerless to stop or change it (at least legally).  Frankly it totals up to little less than a loss of our border.  That's the intent after all, trade without borders.  

That's why illegal immigration has been unchecked for years.  Crazy as it sounds I think if you look at everything that is going on I have come to absolutely believe we are being looted from the inside out and being set up to fall.  Government power is growing, your rights are faltering, and foreign armies are being allowed to disrupt the border.  This is not a good sign.

Not a good time at all!  

Non assimilating immigrants, communist and socialist politicians, Islamofascists without and within, globalism and juggernaut of "free (read; Not fair) trade" ....

Hold your breath, vote while your vote still counts, server on the border with Minutemen, call your representatives, join the Army, do whatever you can.. while you still can.

But most importantly, buy Danish.  :)

You know the government would do something..... they would send that guy across the border to face justice.
Do I think it is right? HELL NO!
But don't have any illusions about what would happen, if you didn't end up in Mexico, you would certainly by prosecuted by your own government for doing what it should be doing.

Sheriff insists Mexican military crossed border

A Texas sheriff and his deputy told Congress yesterday they had "no doubt" that Mexican military crossed the U.S. border in Texas on Jan. 23, even as Mexican officials announced they have concluded it was known drug traffickers instead.
"There's no doubt in my mind there was Mexican military involvement. I've seen it too many times over the years," said Hudspeth County Sheriff Arvin West, in whose jurisdiction the incursion happened.
The House Homeland Security Committee's investigations subcommittee is examining the incident and the broader problem of incursions and violence on the U.S.-Mexico border. Two sheriffs and U.S. Border Patrol officials said Mexican military incursions happen, though they viewed them with differing degrees of seriousness.
On Jan. 23, Sheriff West said, his deputies and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers chased several vehicles suspected of carrying drugs as they fled back toward the Mexico border, and encountered a military-style Humvee on the American side of the Rio Grande.
After the Humvee and the other vehicles crossed the border into Mexico, one of the vehicles, a Ford Expedition, got caught in the riverbank. Another Humvee and other civilian vehicles arrived, unloaded the Expedition's cargo and then set the vehicle on fire.
The sheriff and his deputy yesterday played video from a patrol car that was part of the chase.
Mexican officials yesterday said the preliminary results of an investigation show that "no personnel of the Mexican army participated" in the incident.
In findings sent to Washington, the officials said the "uniforms, insignia, armament and vehicles that appear on the initial video do not correspond to those utilized by the armed forces of Mexico."
They said those involved were linked to the Rodolfo Escajeda drug-trafficking organization and that the tape shows Escajeda himself.
One of Sheriff West's deputies, Esequiel Legarreta, who was part of the chase, testified that the vehicle was a military-style Humvee, the men wore Mexican military-style uniforms with unidentifiable insignias and that they used military tactics.
Deputy Legarreta, who served six years in the Marine Corps Reserve, said he was familiar with military-style weapons and vehicles and with the Mexican military uniform. He said there is "no doubt in my mind" he saw Mexican military on the U.S. side of the border that day.
Border Patrol Chief David V. Aguilar and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Elizabeth Whitaker said the federal government will wait for an investigation by the FBI and Immigration and Customs Enforcement before drawing conclusions.

Sometimes you just have to wonder just what the hell these guys are thinking.  Are they just hoping it will blow over?  That some bigger news will catch everyones attention?  Securing the borders is one of the very few things the .gov is supposed to be doing, why the hell are they just sitting on their asses??

Chief Deputy Mike Doyal said Wednesday that two deputies and the wife of third officer were warned that they should "stay off the river" or they and their families would be killed. He declined to provide other details. "All I can say for sure is that it was someone in Mexico," West said. Doyal said three unidentified men threatened the wife of one of the county's 12 deputies. Andrea Simmons, an FBI spokeswoman in El Paso, said Wednesday the FBI is aware of the threats but does not have a role in the investigation. West, who said area drug traffickers know just about everything about his deputies, was among a contingent of Texas lawmen who testified Tuesday at a congressional hearing about Mexican military incursions into the United States. He said he has no doubt that the men carrying automatic weapons and driving a military-style Humvee were Mexican military, despite denials from the Mexican government. West also said federal authorities confirmed to him that the weapons and Humvee used in the confrontation were from the Mexican military. Mexican officials have identified four drug smugglers among those involved in the incident. Government officials have suggested that smugglers dressed as soldiers and may have even stolen the military-issued equipment. The Texas sheriffs remained in Washington on Wednesday, visiting with Texas lawmakers and White House officials to raise awareness about the problems they face on the border. But at least one Texas lawmaker has urged some restraint from sheriffs and the media. While he said he sympathizes with sheriff's departments "strapped for resources," U.S. Rep. Silvestre Reyes, D-El Paso, said he has become concerned over statements about the involvement of the Mexican military. Esequiel Legarreta, a deputy sheriff of Hudspeth County, told a House panel Tuesday that he thought he saw a 50-caliber gun held by one of the smugglers, but Reyes responded by saying that has not been documented. "If after understanding the facts of the so-called incident were not as they were presented, and you still continue to use that to further a political agenda, then you are not trying to help our communities on the border," Reyes said. "You are trying to use our communities in a political election year, and I think that's false." The recent border confrontation started when a Texas Department of Public Safety officer tried to pull over one of three sport utility vehicles suspected of being loaded with marijuana. The SUVs sped south along a winding, two-lane highway, eventually cutting into the desert as the drivers headed for the Rio Grande. A video of the chase viewed during Tuesday's hearing in Washington showed the speeding SUVs weaving down the center of Highway 34. Officers can be heard frantically calling for backup, while a dispatcher advises that they use caution. One of the SUVs blew a tire on the highway, and the driver fled on foot. A second SUV made it across the Rio Grande, while a third got mired in mud along the south bank of the river near Neely's Crossing, about 50 miles east of El Paso. Armed men unloaded large bales of what was believed to be marijuana and then set the SUV on fire after the Humvee, spotted crossing from the United States into Mexico as police chased the vehicles, tried unsuccessfully to tow the stranded car. Officials from both countries are continuing to investigate the incident. Video of Car Chase and Border Incursion

I have taken video myself of Mexican military crawling all over the border in El Paso / Hudspeth counties.  While I was there, atleast, the Mex military were atleast still on their side.  One night at 3 am, we saw 2 of them on the muddy south bank of the Rio Trickle.. a whole 12 feet from the US soil.

I don't need a website link, I have seen it myself and captured it on film myself.  I could see the 'white's of their eyes' and the G3's on their backs...

This shit by our government, in regards to the border and immigration, is not infuriating.  It's treasonous on a scale we have not known in our nations' history.  Clap clap that we are atleast making timid headway in the war abroad, but with our flanks so wide open, we will suffer the consequences I am afraid..
