I and about four other guys on my team used SIG 552's in Iraq for about two months.  We had the choice of AK's, 552's, or long barreled FN's.  My first choice was the FN, but they had long barrels and we working a lot out of vehicles, so the shorter weapon was in.  We gave them up for M4’s later on, but I have to say, the SIG’s never jammed, and could hold about a 4 MOA group.  The magazines were really tough.  I thought that they were flimsy when I first saw them, but then again, I thought a Glock was to?  Yeah right!  Anyway the mag’s held up nicely, and they will attach to each other so no need for a mag cinch or the likes.  I agree that the AR is a more accurate weapon, but I have to say, my M4 did jam on several occasions, and my SIG never did under the same conditions.  With that said, I WILL STILL TAKE THE AR.  You just have to keep the M4’s clean.  In Iraq at times, the dust was so bad that keeping your weapon was a Bi-daily thing.  With the SIG, it didn’t matter.

 Ranger..You guys changed from Sig to M4 because of accuracy or because of the familiarity of handling M16 series?

I changed to the M4 for familarity, acuracy, and the ergonomics of the AR.  The SIG would be my second choice, and the above guy who mentioned that the SIG was a cadilac AK is exactely right.  There is nothing wrong with this weapon at all.  It's a fine weapon and I hope to own one for myself one day.

Because of the ammo.  A lot of the 7.62 x 39 was crap.  We had case head seperations, failures to fead, raised primers.  Not all of the ammo was like that, but most of what we could find at the time.  The brass was really soft.  Green tip 5.56 was easy to get.  Not to mention the SIG's were brand new.  

No way???  Tell me more.  Will this be a Sig 55X or a new model designed around the AR mag?  Best thing I have heard since hearing Winchester is going away.  Please more scoop!!! HK Ag

It's true, the semi version will be unvieled at the shot show. I'll be placing my order at the show for deleveries in August.
