Howdy:
Mostly I lurk & learn (planning 1st AR build) 'round here. I used the 1st post to get my wife & myself in for $2ea (my boy got in free). You might think, "Hey, I just lost some money on ol' jfruser & family," but you'd be wrong. We would not have made it a family outing at full price & I would have stayed home & worked 'round the house or reloaded .357 cartridges. I can't go to EVERY gun show aroud DFW. Instead, I shelled out $4 to get the family in, bought some mags & powder, & generally enjoyed talking with the vendors & other folks. Nice show. Beautiful venue. Not the biggest I've been to, but there was very little chaff: few non-firearm-related tables or Nazi-flag sellers. One note: Some knucklehead had a ND shortly before we arrived. That fellow is begging to be beaten with a Louisville Slugger with mirror-image carvings of the Four Rules. So he can read them while his bruises heal. |

I could not make it today - what are the hours tomorrow? a few friends want to go but it would be in the afternoon

Bummer, such nice brand-new carpeted floor. The offending dealer was/is banned from future shows Here is the skinny on the incident today at the show. 0912 Jack Tippit was clearing his loaded Glock while setting up at his table. Many of you have met Jack since he has been with the shows for over 25 years. Poped the clip, tried to clear the round from the chamber, slider slipped- BANG. Could'a heard a mouse fart for about 5 seconds. I was at the front door, ran to his table hoping there was no loss of life, found Jack stunned that he had just fired his weapon. Asked him "Are you OK?" Yes, "he replied, "it was my fault, I didn't know it was loaded". I then asked him to pack up, and leave immediatley. He complied. I had the opportunity to press full felony charges, since we do post the LEGAL 30.06 sign. Jack is a great vendor, with a LONG history with our show. This was purely an accident. I didn't press charges, he has lost enough already. TODAY'S INCIDENT HAS NO EFFECT ON FUTURE SHOWS AT FCC. I HAVE BEEN ASSURED BY THE EVENT DIRECTOR THAT ALL IS FINE. JUST GOTTA FIX SOME CARPET. NOW. HERE IS HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE FUTURE OF OUR SHOWS. From this day forward, 30JUL05, ANY PERSON (OTHER THAN LEO) , DEALER OR NOT, WALKS THROUGH MY DOOR WITH A LOADED WEAPON, IS GOING TO JAIL ON FELONY GUN POSSESION. JUST UNLOAD IT IN THE PARKING LOT. THESE OFFENDERS DO NOT REALIZE HOW QUICKLY WE CAN ALL BE OUT OF BUSINESS. I LIKE GUNS, I LIKE THE SHOWS, I EVEN LIKE MOST OF THE PEOPLE. WHAT I WILL NOT TOLERATE IS COMPLACENCY. THERE IS NO ROOM IN MY SHOW FOR THAT SHIT. Nuf Said. It sure was great to meet some members today. There was a total of 46 members that showed up Saturday! Now I can finally match some names with faces! Thanks to everybody that stopped by to introduce themselves. Can't wait to go on the next shoot. As an AR15 member, please don't hesitate to shoot me an email if you ever have a question, comment, or suggestion for any of our Classic Shows. Time for bed, been a long day. Matthew |

This is a very nice facility and there were lots of guns there. Parking is available if you either want to hike a bit or get there early. Then there's paid parking as a last resort, but it's at least available. I will definitely go back. As the word gets out it will be an even better show, I think.
I support you 100%. Jack is nice guy, have known him for years, I figured that is why he was not there. You are right, this has to stop before someone gets killed or there are no venues that allow gun shows. I have been to 5 shows in the last three years with NDs. I am more concerned about being shot at a gun show than on the street. Anyway, thanks for the discount, and I too thought the non-gun-related vendor count was very low, parking was not a problem, and I hope this venue works out for all of us. I had a good day! |
cochinosucio,
Don't take this the wrong way, but what felony charge are you gonna bring someone up for walkling into a venue with a loaded, and concealed, gun? |
Or West Frisco/East Denton County (yay cheaper taxes and real liquor stores!) Unfortunately I missed the show today. We just had our fourth child, and I'm busy taking care of three kids from 6 years told to 16 months. Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas... |

ND's are one of the reasons I quit making gun shows a family event. I don't know what I'd do if someone shot my wife or one of my kids, even accidentally. Of course, I've been nearly clobbered and frequently jabbed by people carrying around weapons and not watching what they're doing. One guy at one of the George R. Brown shows in Houston was carrying an AK slung over his shoulder parallell to the floor, and pointing it back over his shoulder. He barely missed me when turning around, and didn't make any attempt to point the muzzle of his rifle in a safe direction. I hope the show went well though. I really look forward to having a show so close to home. Will any of the crew be there tomorrow? I'm hoping to stop by after church. Remember the Alamo, and God Bless Texas... |

Since a 30.06 sign is clearly posted at the show, this along with a reckless endangerment with a firearm ( discharging in a room of 3 or 400 people ) .................................. |

Cochinosucio:
Add 2 more team members to your totals. Tanlegsintx and myself got in for FREE. Forgot to drop off the fliers at the office. I was going to park at the mall and walk over, but my son wanted to go and buy a Airsoft rifle. So we parked on the dirt top instead. As we were walking I noticed a guy in a golf cart stuck like chuck in the mud about half way out. I asked if I could lend a hand, he sure took it. We spent the next ~3 mins pushing out the cart. I did not think the mud was that deep, went about half way up my shoes Any way, my wife (Tanlegsintx) asked for us to get a ride. The driver said that was what he was here for then said he would be glad to and very politely said he would do better. He asked us if we had anything to check. I said no, and he walked us straight into the door. I thanked him and shook his hand. Forgot his name now, but thank him for us would ya! It was a nice show, never been and took a few minutes to get my bearings. The carpet sure was nice, my son did not even get tired this time..Prolly cause he wanted a new toy . Will be heading back today. Tanlegs left her Oakleys at one of those vendors at the Rodeo show last month. Well come to find out, her guess was right on, the vendor still has her glasses and will be bringing them today. $90 dollars saved . But sorry no pushing stuck golf carts out of the mud today ETA: One of the security guards on the roof (upper level) was watching and said he was laughing his ass off ....... |

Parking was not that bad at all. Even when parking in either of the unpaved lots, the distance was probably shorter than the walk from the parking structure to the front door at Market Hall.
The only suggestion that I could make in regarding the loaded weapons...Give them a place outside the actual show near the door to to clear and safe their weapons. There are a few manufacturers that make relatively lightweight and portable bullet traps just for this. mm That new Ikea is huge.....and I've been to quite a few of them. |

cochinosucio:
Thanks for the discount and what an outstanding place for a show. It was nice walking around on the carpet in the cool. Looks like the usual first show quirks but most of the vendors I talked with were extremely pleased with the way things were going. Did I hear someone had a gun lifted from their table? WE'll be back in October for sure. BTW one vendor was selling Korean 30-06 in bandoleers of six, eight round clips for $19. The DCM e-mailed me that my paperwork should be processed in the next 21 days so when the Garand gets here I'll have something to play with. |
Dude, you've been long overdue in getting here, but I'm glad to see you finally made it! There are other THR members around, so expect to see some familiar names. |
Just got back from the show. Very nice venue. Short drive since I'm actually in Frisco. Bought some mags and fondled a FN 5.7 & a Baby Eagle. One of these will be coming home with me next time!
Thats funny, I was walking around trying to sell one of my Baby Eagles today. |
It was a decent show. I will go back when I can. Only thing I really needed was some replacement spring cups for a Glock.... and damned if the ONLY glock supplier there was the one who got asked to leave because of the ND. That sucked. Needed those parts.
They had a decent stack of printed off AR15.com pages for the discounts, so it looks like our members made a good showing. I didnt see many people I knew there. |
I was there and spoke with Legs and I think FALARAK. Nice to see two.
cochinosucio, can you get Terry from Surplus Shooters Supply to more shows in D/FW. He is always at the DMS, but rarely at Big Town or FTW |

Yes it was a great show! I make most of the Classic shows and also the Market Hall show. This one was a real treat, with the beautiful facility. I didn't get to stay long but I will be back for the October show!! Thanks for the $2.00 ticket.

Enjoyed the show. Picked up a Bushy stripped lower from Robbie (thanks Robbie and nice to meet ya) and some Glock 19 mags. Besdt of all it was 3 minutes from my house. Schramm had a weaponlight called the LEDwave?? Kinda looked like the Surefire X200. $67 plus tax, anybody know anything about that light?

I was there with my SAR1 Romy folder, nobody wanted it... too bad. But I did have a good time and learned a few things from the other guys selling. I also got some ammo, and a mag I needed. My wife joined the NRA, and My cousin bought a scope for his AR. Did I meet any of you by accident?
I need to get a shirt from this site. Glad to hear it was not Kanked. I will be back. Nice venue. |
We have em up at work. They seem like decent lights for the money. I have played around with them, and the cone of light they put out is bright, and almost a perfect circle. |

I have to +1 what he said. I'll be back with my 4 year old in tow yet again(yes, she is available for "Little Miss Frisco Gun Show" if you need the pix. And NO, she is not spoiled nor am I biased in the least. ) If some of the vendors want to sell WWII war trophies, that is OK, I'd like to suggest that they don't dislay the banners so high. I've got uncles that fought the bastards in Europe and my wife has relatives that died at the Treblinka concentration camp. So, I find the shit fairly offensive. Dropped about $150 on the show which is more than I normally spend. Nice venue. Nice crowds. Nice vendors. I'll be back with my daughter again. Now, if we can get the ARFcom crowd to meet at a standardized place for lunch............ wganz ¶ |

Nice. Better than the AR-10 last year at Big Town. |
It was nice to meet you and I really appreciate the business. I'm glad you enjoyed the show. This is the best venue for a show I have ever been to, and I have been to over 1600 gun shows since 1972 from Miami to Los Angeles. Thanks Matt and Robin and all the attending public. |
got to go to the sunday show.thanks for the discount.that's a really nice place.
glad to see the nra lady there, will go back in oct to renew with the discount. big town was a really long drive for me.there was alot more guns there than i thought there would be,alot better than the richardson shows.took my 8yr old daughter with me and she had a good time.every time i take her she spots those pink 22 cricket rifles, guess i'll be picken up one of them pretty soon. great show, thanks. |
I got there about 9:30 and that explains all the hubbub at various vendor tables around the room. I gotta say, this is the nicest facility I've ever been to for a gunshow. I'm budgeted out for now, so I wouldnt have gone at all had the discount not been offered. I didnt find anything I couldnt live without (on my budget) but in October I might pick up a Springfield GI 1911-A1 .45. |
Guess I missed that one. What happened with that ND ?? Guess that guy isnt around any longer at shows. |
I don't believe the guy responsible for the ND at Ft Worth a year ago shows up anymore either. |

The lovely and gracious Ex-Miz Hun and I attended the Frisco Gun Show on Saturday morning around 9:15 AM, so we just missed the negligent discharge!
I am very pleased to know that the Embassy Suites folks did NOT overreact to this situation! That said, we must all understand this....allow one little blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl to get shot at a Texas Gun Show and I can assure you that within the time it takes to call a Special Session of the Texas Legislature, gun shows in Texas will be a thing of the past. Call it 'Buffy's Law' or 'Tiffany's Law', or whatever the little girl's name happened to be, her pic on posters all over the state will bring a quick end to gun shows even here in Texas! Sorry, but 'throw the book' at whoever has an ND at a public gun show in this state! A 'negligent discharge' in such a public venue not only threatens the lives of everyone at that show, it threatens our RKBA, as well. I noticed that the crowd at that show was not the 'typical' gun show crowd, but was likely made up by folks attending their first gun show. What negative publicity for the RKBA! What ammo provided to wives who reluctantly attended the show with their husbands...along with their children! There can be NO excuse for an ND in such a place, at such a time. Hang'em high. Eric The('NuffSaid)Hun |

Just want to say - I have heard two stories about the ND. One that it was a personal carry piece and was indeed a ND, and one story that it was a customer gun, which was not checked/tied at the front, and was modified which led to the AD.
Until we know all the facts... it is prudent not to jump to assumptions or conclusions. There is such a thing as an AD (although rare) but I have not seen all the facts... so I wont pass judgement. Yet. |
Here's the facts, FALARAK, as posted by the owner and director of the show. |

Was there on Sat, around 1. Bought a few 20 rounders for the AR. I was surprised at the size of the show, need more like that closer to my house. : ) Thanks for the cheap entrance fee!
