Method of registration: Send an IM to Recruit Killer. or e-mail to me, Mike Wood at [email protected] Course Description The Carbine Course teaches a range of skills from firearms safety and basic offhand shooting to advanced "runnin an gunnin". The class begins with a review of firearms safety rules and the concepts behind the more advanced techniques taught later in the class. firing line work begins "cold" with a critique of the student‘s stance and basic weapon manipulation drills like magazine changes, double taps and malfunction drills. Then we go hot and begin practicing what we learned in the lecture. Followed by tactically employing the weapon while using cover. Then the pressure is turned up and shoot-no shoot scenarios are presented. If time allows the remainder of the class teaches threat assessment and movement while engaging targets as part of a fluid scenario. The focus of the class is to provide students with skills and mindset they can use to protect their family and home. If you shoot competitions like IDPA or “Three Gun” matches don’t feel left out as the instructors will adjust their method of training to give you a competitive edge. Above all this is designed to be a fun class but bring a rifle that works and maybe even bring a spare. If you also have something like a tactical shotgun or an M1 Garand then bring it along. there may be time to get it out and shoot it at the end of the class. Course Highlights: · Firearms Safety · Developing a tactical platform (Shooting Stance) · Sight Alignment and Sight Picture Under Duress · Trigger Control · Double Tap Drills · Magazine Changes (Administrative and Tactical) · The Four Main Firing Positions · Use of Cover · Immediate Action (Clearing a Malfunction) · Rifle to Pistol Transition · Multiple Target Engagement · Movement Shooting Equipment List: · Signed Waiver · Primary Weapon: AR15, AK, FAL, M1A. etc.(magazine fed semiautomatic Rifle) · Tactical Sling (recommended) · Pistol (not required but recommended) · Holster · 3 Magazines for Rifle and Pistol (minimum) · 500 Rounds Rifle 300 Rounds Pistol · Ear and Eye Protection · Firearms Cleaning Kit · Sun Screen / Foul Weather Gear (Contingent on time of year) · Hat · Sun Glasses · Water / Gatorade / Snacks / Lunch (PRICE) $145.00 hope you can make it. ps. per RC Hey all, Who ever is scheduled and not paid for the course as of yet, please do so to ensure your seat! Count me in.
I'm closing on my house that week and probably moving very soon after, but I'll do my darndest to schedule around the class. Hmm, this might spur me to buy an Aimpoint/Eotech too |
|
I can vouch for this class. I took the original ARFCOM class in Waco. I hada huge grin on my face everytime I stepped off the firing line. Enjoy, I'm jealous.

Hey All,
I have been getting quite a bit of interest in the course. I want to ensure a good head count and am thinking 10 to 12 instead of 14 to 15. This means, if you have not secured your seat yet, please simply contact me and let me know of you intentions. I will hold it if the time to pay is not right now for you, but just keep me informed. Thanks, c |
|
As much as I hate to do it go ahead and count me out of this one. My extra job just got cancelled and my extra money is gone since I just spent it on a new firearm.

Is this going to involve throwing or dropping the rifle at all? (makes a difference which rifle I bring)
What kind of pistol holtser? Thanks, Recruit Killer. Got the IM. Will let you know for sure by then. |
|
NO ON:
Throwing or dropping the rifle at all! Pistol holster: What ever you have available. I always tell people bring whatever you have and buy nothing special. That way you can work with the gear you own. From taced out to john q. hope this helps, c sends |
|
brouhaha--
i don't know anyone that teaches throwing a rifle as a legitimate technique. i think it's better to hang on to a 7 pound stick in a fight than throw it at a single person. i have seen some weird stuff in various gun rags but they are usual "filler" and not commonly taught technique. |
|
I've seen courses where people actually DROP or TOSS (throw was a bad usage on my part) their rifle when transitioning to pistol. I wanted to make sure that's NOT the case, as I might possibly use my SG551. I'm not going to throw that rifle
|
|
There will be no throwing anything! Except a whole lot of led!!!!!!!

FWIW, you do have to 'drop' magazines. Not really an issue unless you are in nasty mud.
I wore a sweatshirt with a hand pocket, worked great to sneak a magazine into it instead of dropping it on the ground. R_K 'overlooked' my prima-donna concerns about my magazines getting mud filled. I would recommend a GOOD tactical sling. I used one that is perfect for my hunting needs (large shoulder strap, good tight fit, easy to swing to my shoulder). However, it did not give me much room to manuever the gun for tactical reloads. A good quality, versatile, sling is a MUST have. Might consider a good quality holster for your pistol as another 'must have.' I saw several guys using holsters that they were not normally carrying (High Speed Ultra-Ninja Tactical Supply). Made their transistions awkward since they were fumbling for the location of the holster under stress. Smooth is fast. TRG |

TRG just couldn't remember the first part. |

I'm gonna be out of town until about Oct. 4th. If I need to pay in advance, please advise on who/where/how.

Hey all,
It was my pleasure! Thanks again for a great class and a fun day. I enjoyed teaching on another planet, at least, that is what it felt like after the drive to and from Houston as well as the day teaching! I look forward to the return down there as well. Shotgun is next, then pistol. The Impact Zone was not bad either. Worth the trip... Chris sends |
