If you do a lumpsum distribution, that will be roughly 13-15mil in your pocket. That is already taken into account the CPV calculations and taxes taken out.

You are correct. Typically CPV is typically tied to some interest rate. It is an annuity. Immediate annuity to be exact. They basically buy an immediate annuity that will pay out, in this case, 47mil in 26yrs. Based on interest rates, you get a figure in which you put into the annuity to have it pay out 47mil over 26yrs. In essence the present value of money.

Ex: A loaf of bread may have cost 1.00cents in 1977. Now its $2.00. The difference is the time value of money.

Ooops forgot. Typically CPV calculation will be based on the equivalent ZERO coupon Treasury bonds dollar price.
