I'm going to be in West WY for work.

I was wondering if you can target shoot in Shoshone National Forest. If so, are there any restrictions on hours or specific locations?
I'd really like to do some night shooting with NVGs and lasers, not much space to stretch your legs at night back east.

Do I just get a national forest pass and pick up my brass and litter?

Where in particular are you looking to shoot?

You must be a certain distance form trails, roads and campsites. At least that's what one ranger told me.

Probably too late, but I am not aware of any special regulations or permits required in SNF.

The general regulations are at the above link. The last 4 bullet points are of particular importance. In case an FPO or LEO happens upon your makeshift range, make sure you're at least 150 yards from any developed recreation area and not shooting toward or across any roads (or trails for that matter). Also, after the nonstop adventure that was last August and September around here, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't start a brush or forest fire.
