Is it going to only get a little worse, or am I going to get taxed out of my own house?

Depends on City and County.  The city I live and surrounding valley that I have rentals in will remain relatively flat for the upcoming year.
It largely depends if Urban Renewal has been active, how the roads held up after last years snownado, the condition of your infrastructure, where there any bonds passed for schools or such, etc..

Has anyone from Boise gotten their property tax notice from the Ada County Assessor yet?  I would like to know what the rate is for this year.  The city gets to levy up to 3% more year over year.

I got mine yesterday. Its cheap. Of coarse I moved from out of state so $4200 a year is cheap to me. I'll update with the rate later, it's not handy at the moment.

I was just joking.

I looked at the bill today and its 1600 in ada county/Boise. It was 1470 last year so it didn't go up too much but still an increase is an increase...

Canyon County here and it's $1700ish.  Canyon County has a high tax rate already, then add in the money for the schools around here and it gets up there.  There is also talk about putting up a new prison in Caldwell, so that's going to cost us.  Still beats the hell out of California!

Everyone make sure you signed-up for the homeowner's exemption, if you haven't already.  Mine was -$93,000 this year.

$2220 for the year in Middleton(2C). Don't have last years handy for a comparison though.

$18 goes to CWI.

I guess getting taxed is a matter of priority.  If I was told I could vote to have higher property tax in return for new correctional facilities, I might actually do that, depending on how much it would be.  I'm always skeptical about giving Big Education money, but bad people gotta go somewhere and it's not on the streets.

And it seems that the visqueen facility in Caldwell doesn't hold them in real well.

I was noticing that this neck of the woods has a routine problem with escapees.

I had to go look at my bill, it was 4 something.  You must have a damn nice house around here.

I had a small house in Texas and was paying the same amount.

That's just not right.  Every house should pay the same amount on most of those items, not a percentage.  I know it will never change, but just because you happen to have a more expensive home, doesn't mean you are using more services than everyone who is paying much less.

Well there's plenty of room

House was a foreclosure and tore up by little monsters and inattentive parents. There was a lot of upside even with the steep tax bill.
If I only had room for a private range.

Was it being rented out? I know where I am they double the property tax when it's rented which is lame and should be voted away.
