Here is a little known Maine law whose existence is just starting to get out this week.  The Feds and the 4473 are not the only thing that MJ
smokers who are also gun owners have to worry about.  There is a Maine
law that makes all Main gun owners who smoke MJ, which is now legal to
do, a prohibited person.

The Maine law relies on the federal law.  So until the Federal Law changes, if it ever does, all Maine gun owners who smoke pot and own a
gun are violating Maine law.  Many people are under the impression they
only have to worry about federal authorities.

"1G.  Is an unlawful user of or is addicted to any controlled substance and as a result is prohibited from possession of a firearm under 18 United States Code, Section 922(g)(3).  Violation of this paragraph is a Class D crime;  [2015, c. 470, §1 (AMD).]"

"18 United States Code, Section 922(g)(3) It shall be unlawful for any person -  It shall be unlawful for any person -  (3) who is an
unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance (as defined in
section 102 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 802)); - See

I have warned a few people that use for Medicinal purposes about this. They said it would never be enforced on a local level. A few people that I know have both hunting licenses as well as medical MJ cards. I simply told them to be careful as it could potentially catch up to them. They think I'm crazy.

There was a post on facebook a few weeks ago from someone in Maine having their pistol confiscated during a traffic stop due to medical marijuana (I think they showed a card as a result of a question about odor - I don't remember the details). So throw that at anyone who says it isn't being enforced at the local level...

Well... I'll definitely get the word out to a few people I know.  Man that sucks to need to use it vs opiates and lose you firearms because you want better pain management.
