Bomb Kills Two UK Troops In Iraq Tuesday February 28, 10:50 AM

Two British soldiers have been killed and a third injured in Iraq. There are reports a roadside car bomb was detonated as a patrol passed through Amara, 230 miles southeast of Baghdad. The soldiers are from the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards battle group.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: "Two British soldiers were killed and a third sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

"Next of kin are being informed and no further information is being released."

Asked the nature of the incident, the spokeswoman replied: "At the moment we are not releasing any such information."

The deaths take the number of UK service personnel who have died since the Iraq conflict began in 2003 to 103.

Amara is on the river Tigris in the Maysan province north of Britain's main base at Basra.

It has seen local rioting and insurgent attacks.
