Most AR related items are very expensive outside the US.
I purchased my first DPMS made AR15 clone (sold by Oberland Arms in Germany) in 2001 for about 1800 US$.The same was sold in the US for 800 US$.Even small items like scope mounts etc are damm expensive. |

US DoS export reg's… you need a $100 export licence to export ANY AR15 parts now.

I was guessing it was something along those lines. I then assumed locally manufactured ARs and parts were of low number and required the added cost due to not being mass produced. Is that also the case? |

Yup, Oberland have to CNC machine their uppers and lowers from billet and make their barrels from Lother Walter blanks at £300 (@$525 just for the raw barrel blank!) a pop… ANdy |
