I was in Academy today and noticed they had some new Monarch (Barnaul) ammo. It's brass cased, 55gr soft point for 6.86 a box. Just wanted to give everybody a heads up and see if anybody has shot any yet.

Went there yesterday and got a case of .223 rem. I want another. Thanx for the heads up.

Did they give you a discount for buying it in bulk? I had a guy at wal-mart tell me that he gets a discount at Academy when he buys it by the case, but I've asked 3 people including a manager, and they all said no.

How does this do in an AR? I got burned by Wolf some time ago and am reluctant to buy any more Russian. The brass case might be btter than the steel cased Wolf, tho..

Gander mountain has Wolf .223 and 7.62 X 39 for $2.49 a box - don't remember the weight though.
