Just got a text from my father in law, my wife's cousin flushed a black bear out of a field just west of Cresco near HWY 9. I guess several people have posted pictures on facebook(I don't have an account). Anyone deer hunting in the area be careful. Black bears don't attack people but they also don't live in Iowa, this one might not have gotten the memo on what they don't do.

Will probably go out later with my camera and cruise gravel to try for a picture myself. Would love to see one(and won't be getting out of the car).

A friend of mine near Cresco shared the photos on FB.

Living in Alaska the past 2 years, I can attest that this is not the case.

Black Bear Kills Teen

General noises are usually loud enough to to scare them off though before you stumble upon them.

I know it happens, comment was based on things that were said when one was in the Mason City area and was shot. You'd have thought he raped a puppy.

I was out looking for it today, all I want is pictures. No luck finding the bear, but found another eagle nest within 10 miles of my house that I had no idea was there.
