Thanks to the re-interpretation of an existing law (ATF can't make laws) as of 1 Jan of this year no machinegun parts kits could be imported with their original barrel and thus the over use of the CC and subsequent higher prices and price gouging brought on by individuals and vendors doing their best to follow in the foot steps of capitalism.  The easier barrels like the AK are currently being manufactured in the US but the old world manufacturing that went into the production of older machineguns will never be duplicated.  Case in point is the ZB-37, do a search and you'll see that it's a heavy barrel that has "cooling fins" almost the entire length of the barrel and that kind of craftsmanship can never be realistically or economically recreated by present day barrel manufacturers...matter of fact I'm sure they'd just laugh at you quite heartily!

Why am I even telling you all this?  I have no clue unless it's to reassure myself that it's worth the short term expense and hardship to preserve the above items for myself and others to see and enjoy in the future...although I'll have to reword that to convince the wife.  

Us members of our 03 FFL/SOT are meeting this Friday for lunch and will try to hash out a date for the Spring Shoot that we all can attend as I expect more people in attendance than last fall and we had our hands full with the machineguns last time.  From the poll I posted it seems that there was no real clear cut date that everyone wanted and with about two months notice everyone will have an opportunity to clear their calendar for the day or ask for it off...like me.  We'll also be discussing what we'll bring for everyone to enjoy shooting that day as well as how we'll be handling the ammo brought by the shooters or provided/sold by us for everyone to use.  I'll update everyone as soon as I can!

Thanks, I appreciate the offer to help and will keep that in mind on the firing line.  Things have gone pretty smooth on the firling line but we have a couple ideas that will make things better and safer for everyone involved.  If you happen to talk to Nemo ask him if he's still interested in my Tec-22 as this might be the beginning of the great booger-hooker gun grab!  Who knows, I might even wind up being the only AR15.com Moderator without an AR when it's all said and done...althought that might be a little bit of a stretch.
