The ZIP grain elevator (210 feet, 18 stories) is going to be blown up next month.

I will be there, this will be a fun thing to watch!

I was at the demolition of the first bridge between Pierre and Fort Pierre across the Missouri about 20 years back, that was a VERY AWESOME thing to see!

Then again, I do like blowing stuff up.

Looks like it is built sturdy. Only the windows broke after the whole thing fell 20 feet.

Glad I contributed to the cause. Glad I didn't go to see it.

As far as brushing this off as just happening sometimes, I think somebody blew it when it came to designing the blast.

Crane building 8th St & RR is where the photo was taken, straight south of the Elevator, there isn't a building between it and the elevator, they are on the same block.

Another place I do some work at is the Howe fab shop building to the northeast of the Crane Building, about 100 feet from where the top of the elevator would have "fell". No photo from there, it looks "straight" at that angle.

Crane building is the home of AllOverMedia in Sioux Falls, which I do the computer work / Flash ads for. The LCD's above urinals and things like that.

Crane is also the place where the guy went nuts on his girlfriend in the upstairs apartments, dumped some shotgun rounds around, then set fire to it and jumped out the window from 3rd floor to the lip on Stephanie Herseth's office, where SWAT nabbed him. Lotta water damage to the building from the fire about a month and a half ago.

Funny part about that is the first floor is the office for the "SD Rape and Domestic Violence Center".
