I eat out alot, atleast 5 days a week.  So I'm always looking for new places to get a good dinner, giant breakfast, or cheap happy hour food.

I know there are a million places I haven't tried but what's everys secert place to eat?

Some good places in Beaverton are Beaches off Murray/Scholls, good prices, good food and great service.  Happy hour food menu is $2-3 and is really good stuff.

Breakfast places. I like Black Bear Dinner on TV Hwy.  HUGE portions and good prices.

I actually cook dinner every night but I still like a good eat out.

Looks like you know about the happy hour at Beaches :).  You should try the happy hour at Gustav's.  Closest is near Washington Square.

For Mexican, I recommend Pepita's on Cedar Hills and Tres Hermano's over on 99 just south of 217(next to the theatre).  Tres Hermano's has my favourite tamales and burritos.

For Italian there is Nona Emilia's on TV Hwy.  Warning: this is hearty, 'italian grandma' kind of cooking.  Tasty but far from healthy.  Also try Giovani's in downtown-ish Beaverton.

For fancy fare there is always Higgin's downtown.  I want to try El Gaucho as well but haven't made it yet.

For indian, there is India House downtown on Morrison, Swagat's (several locations, I go to the one on 109th of beaverton-hillsdale), and Abhiruchi on Murray at TV Hwy (next to Kmart).

I just wish a Fatburger would open up around here....

Okay, now you've made me hungry...

El Gaucho's is nice and I've been there more then a few times but to be honest....I'm not in that big a hurry to go back any time soon.  I've had good experiences and bad ones....and the good ones are amazing, worth every penny.  The bad ones though.....make you really wonder why you paid $100 a person.

Conplete with mall ninja's?

Is this a sushi place?  I like Sushi boat on murry scholls but I have limited experience in this area.

Yes. Sushi + "Japanese Tapas" like beef with garlic buds, tempura, etc. etc. And about 15 different sakes.

I'll also recommend Tokyo (on 185th, near the Tanasbourne library) and Mio Sushi (185th at Walker).  Both very good.

And since you got me hungry earlier, you reap the rewards.  I just ran out to a place called Biscuits Cafe (Jenkins at Baseline in Beaverton).  Very good.  I got the special and got enough food for two meals.  Their pancakes were very good.  The even put onion in their white gravy which sounds a bit odd but actually comes out very nice.  Recommended.  I'll have to go back and check out their biscuits.

Biscuits.......I've been to both, the one by Costco and the one off of Farmington.

The one of Farmington was terrible, 1 hour wait, food cold, service and atmosphere was terrible and the biscuts tasted like crap.  Prices were average.

Biscuits near costco is a brand new one....it was ok.  I've never been back though.  I think black bear dinner is cheaper, better, and bigger servings.

Well, I was there at 9am on a Monday morning so that may explain a lot of the difference.  And I definitely don't need any bigger portions  ;)

I'll have to try black bear.

I second the Gustav's nomination.  Good food and Great beer!  h.gif Have you tried Veritable Quandary on 1st and Jefferson (I think)?  A bit spendy/trendy but good food and good drinks.  Also has a nice outdoor area for summer evenings.  Not so good right now.

So where the best cheap places to eat?

Oh course expensive places have good food, that's why they charge more...but cheap places with good food...thats the challenge!

I used to be able to get 2 burgers, fries, and two hot apple pies for $3 at McDonald's...

Locally, I usually just hit up:
- Papa Murphy's = pizza
- China Moon = chinese take out
- New Seasons Market = deli sandwiches and stir fry
- Italiano Deli
- Hawaiian BBQ = Fred Meyers in Aloha

But none of these are places that you'd want to *go* to, just pick up food.

I also tried the new Panda Express here. Not too bad.

Tres Hermanos that I mentioned is pretty dang cheap.

If you want a snack (I've done it as a meal :) then check out India Connect on Walker, near Thai Orchid.  They make their own samosas and have good chutneys.

Good thing I'm making pizza tonight because I'm getting hungry again.

Oh, and check out Treasure Island buffet.  It's actually some of the best chinese I've found around here.

I haven't been there in years, but The Rheinlander was/is an awesome restaurant.  Great food but reservations are a must.

http://www.rheinlander.com/

It's on Sandy near NE 50th ave.

I also like Marrakesh Moroccan Restaurant on trendy-1st ave in portland.   They have belly dancers on the weekends.

Oh, Oh!  I got another two places to check out!  DeNicola's Restaurant on 35th and Powell Blvd. for some real home cooked Italian and then just up the street is the Original Taco House if you like Mexican.  Get the Elpicador.  It is a giant nachos type thing.  Neither place is trendy or expensive.  On a side note - it is a good area of Portland to be packing IMHO.  Actually, as I rethink that last statement, I can not think of anywhere in Portland that I would not want to be packing!

mmmmmmm Fatburger.

Always a good greasy burger, great fries and a vanilla Coke.

There was one close to campus when I was in school. We also had in-n-out, great place to get a burger late at night during a study break.

A friend and I pulled into the local in-n-out one evening looking for food after a little shooting, the friend had gotten his Form 4 back on a Mac and had said Mac on the dash of his truck. We pulled into the parking lot, spied some other friends sitting at the outdoor table and my buddy with the Mac hollers across the parking lot, "hey, I got my machinegun." Completely forgetting that there’s 20 other people in the parking lot. Guess you had to be there.

said friend...

I beilve it's on 21st.  And it's also good......weird that you have to use your hands to eat though.  I turn all the bread into spoons.  Plus you sit on the ground.  The belly dancer is VERY cool.

If you get up to Seattle/Kirkland area, check out the Wing Dome (one location in each place).  They do wings right.
