poll coming
So would you like Mega lwrs for $85 if we get 10 people, or fag lwrs for $80? Sorry meant Stag lowers. Both are very good quality wise. If we do either though and you want some of the lower run models you will have to wait longer for them to do the run. And you may have to pay separate s&h. So if you have interest post what you'd like |
I have two Mega lowers. Nox also has two I think (at least one). All of them have been top notch quality.
"WOULD BUY AGAIN!!! A+++!!!" I would probably be in for just one. |
I would go for a couple mega's....or stags whatever the group buy if for as long as they are quality I don't care. But you can count me in for at least two.
I'd go for a couple of either, but would prefer the Mega, I just don't dig that dumb ass deer logo
Just do me a favor, make it far enough after Christmas so I can recover financially? |
Will do, plus I have to get the nod from the gods above the Mod. |
I'll take care of that once you get all the details worked out. Timeframe? FEB? If ya want to keep this cleaner you can IM me with your thoughts on it. WS4LIF, you can keep your thoughts to yourself |

If I was to get one, I could still have it transferred as a pistol without affecting the group buy right?
Been hankering for an AR pistol... |
true |
Megaa all the way baby.
I have a Mega Gator and a Stinger (Earlier version) and I love them both. I've been in the market for two more, but would like to buy localy and not pay $120 for them. Mega photo thread Nox |
Well Mega hasn't been manufacturing pistol labelled lowers due to a paperwork snafu recently. That should be clearing up soon though.
Bastards.............OK....lemme save my lunch money.....under a hundred bucks, I'll do one too.
ETA= Is this the ultimate in peer pressure or what? |
I'd try to pick up 1 or 2 (I wish i could by like 4-6) as long as i can get the ok from the better half and i have more disposible income by then. But since at least one of them would be for her i think that it would be pretty easy. Now if we are talking sometime this summer once she's outta school and making the bigg $$$ it would be another story. I already have 1 mega, and it is sweet. Got another coming in the next 3-4 weeks, once the finances work out for it. Fricken evil black rifle disease. I also have to spend about $1200 on mountain bike stuff this spring too, so i might have a bit of a conflict. But as long as it is after tax returns I should be semi-ok.
I would suggest nicer lowers for just a little more.
I'd like to do a buy on POF pictogram lowers, might be able to get them for $125 each. I mean, are you just trying to build a ton of crappy AR's or just a few nice ones. Mega lowers are nice don't get me wrong....but I will have 5 nice AR's in a month.....what else can I build!!! |
Looks like you won't be participating in the group buy then. $40 extra for different pictures doesn't seem like a wise purchase to me. |
Well send me a link and I'll look into it. And IT's not like we are going to get Colt lowers |
Right, but at some point your going to say, hmmm I don't need 10 lowers....and wish you had 5 PERFECT ones.
I'm building a rifle right now on a mega, I like em, I'm just saying....if your only going to buy one extra lower....whats the $40 diff.? I mean lowers are cheap any ways. |
So....what you are saying is....if I were to save an extra $40 (cost of two lap dances) I could get a nicer lower? ETA: 2K |
I haven't seen any flaws in a Mega. So how are they not "perfect"? |
Ther is no Santa Claus! |
OH rea....................nevermind |
You bastard our kids saw that post now you much die. |
You haven't built enough rifles or handled enough lowers. You think Olympic LPK is top notch. |
I was under the impression that any lower could be transferred as a pistol. Just gotta be listed as such on the 4473, not actually labelled as such, right? |
NO, has to be registered by the manufacture as pistol...doesn't have to say it on the lower though. |
No....I've felt Bushmaster, Rock River, and Olympic Arms LPKs. For the money (note terms used), I can finesse a Oly parts kit much better than the others. That means I'm not dropping $150-$180 on just a match trigger. Instead I'm spending $45 on parts and an hour of my time. Now you have some very nice rifles. They also end up costing 50% to 100% more than mine. But I see you still avoided the question. Seriously, I'm not bitching, what don't you like about the Megas? What is your lower suggestion (you were generic in your substitution)? |
Remember that when we're standin' in the dark on Saturday...... |
Monkey wrenching with a lower parts kit? To save $10 over high quality milled parts? Where is the sense in that? Most armorers wouldn't even atempt that.
I have no beef with Mega, there are not as refined as some other brands though. There finish is nice, but also very thick. The grainy teflon coating doesn't match well with all uppers. The thick coating also can sometimes cause problems with mags failing to drop free...my pet pev. I believe Mega's are the best low money lower period, agian, I'm building a lightweigt 16" A2 with one now.... I also believe the 96-00 honda civic is the best small car ever made....I don't drive one any more though. |
LOL.
Okay. I don't want to diverge on LPKs, but let's just say the price difference is higher than $10. So nyah! Again, though WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST. So give us a link or something that's better! |
OK, OK, what's $40 you ask??
15 boxes of Hamburger Helper...... Gas for two weeks, for me..... 4 background checks.... 12 packs of smokes..... 3 new magazines..... 200 rounds of ammo..... 2 and 2/3 Practical Rifle days... 36 issues of Shotgun News... 3 big packs of diapers.... yada, yada, yada....... |
Your lack of detail disturbs me. |
Narrowed it down to what you would ACTUALLY spend it on! That, and $40 is also half a years meals! Maruchan Ramen packs at Costco! (does not include hospital stay). |
When the Cape_Hunter returns I may open up......... |

It's for crack, a big giant rock to share........
Dibs on first hit! |
"YOU KIDS KNOW WHAT DOG FOOD TASTES LIKE????
EXACTLY HOW IT SMELLS!!!! DELISIOUS!!" |
God damnit.. ohh well i was seriously giving Calvery Arms consideration.. but... for about anouther 25 bux over the cost of the Cav Arms lower compared... i could change out the Buttstock and PG... *total cost*
I guess i'll brake down and buy one |
1/5 of an NFA transfer. An extra lower laying arround is never a bad thing. I was thinking about getting a couple of Ameetecs laready. |
Same boat here man...same boat. That is why the dear lord invented the "slush fund" "Nah honey, we didn't make a bonus this month, nope, doesn't look good for next month either" I usually take a small loan out of my 401K every year for a firearm purchase, but didn't this year. Good deal though, I pay it off in 12 mos and pay myself the interest. Kinda wierd, but works |
I ususally do kind of the same thing every year and buy myself a a new firearm; I just call it a late Christmas present to myself. Regardless, my 9mm upper still needs a lower so I am in for whatever the group decides on getting.
I know exactly what you are talking about on the 401k loan deal peta. I did that last June so I could buy myself and brand new Dell laptop when I went back to school. Paid myself back the interst and everything. It was pretty slick how that loan worked. |
Do you handle the transfers, or will I have to have it shipped to a dealer.
We'd have to get a dealer involved since they are Washington to Oregon transfers for a Mega.
Who, we don't know yet. |
No, but I was thinking of having them all shipped to one That way we may even get a break in the FFL side but I'll will hash that out in late January. But we could also have them shipped to other FFL's as well. |

Call Pat. He hates group buys. |
