Reheated leftovers for dinner (beans and cornbread), then we watched a Netflix movie  ("IT part 1").  Pretty good but I do wish they had stayed a little closer to the book.

Not too exciting but you asked lol.

Governor made today an administrative day for state employees to get their vaccine; instead of that I'll be hitting up the range in a couple of hours to test out some 8mm Mauser reloads. Picking up a No5 MkI Lee Enfield this evening that I got off of ODT. However, no help from the in-laws this weekend so me and the wife will just be spending time/being entertained by our 18 month old. I'm sure some Elijah Craig will be in there somewhere from tonight to Sunday night.

The new AC is frankly, awesome.  SOOOO much quieter and cools the house much better.  Still waiting to compare electric bills to see how it is on power.

The new system has a built in dehumidifier which has been amazing.  We used to have a dehumidifier that ran non stop downstairs but it rarely if ever turns on anymore.  That feature alone has made a big difference in the overall comfort of the house.

That's BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Did that log come from your place? And if so, are you privy to a means of rough cutting something like that to size?

<== {Starts eyeballing all those black walnuts in the creek bottom on either side of the range.....

Nope.  Those came from a little river valley up in Illinois, just off the Mississippi River.

A portable sawmill (Woodmizer) is what most people use to cut to their logs into lumber. You still have to fell the trees and buck the logs and get them across the creek.

After that, is a couple years drying and then you can can use it. Hopefully.

Quality wood comes from quality trees.  24” diameter would be about the minimum to get boards like these.

You’ll be looking at your trees a little differently now.  Lol

Or you could go slower and get an Alaskan mill ??. I have this one and it works well enough. Just slow and eats the chain quick.

Looks nice. I didn’t think it was Lake Hickory, but wasn’t sure what else was in that area based on the foothills in the background. Water looks like glass! Rarely is it ever that smooth at White Lake (beyond Fayetteville).

A lot of the lake is state park so development on the lake is pretty limited. It helps keep traffic down. Even on a holiday weekend it's not so bad. On a weekday you're practically alone.

Today's the day I get to go down to the orthopaedic surgeon's office to get the factory wrappings off my leg and see what kind of damage they did removing the projectile from my calf.  It still hurts a bit, but I'm walking without the cast.  One of the girls in the office this morning said I'm walking with a Pimp Strut.  I think that's a good thing.  We'll see if it lasts.

Yup, there's a reason they taught desert survival in grade school as part of the standard curriculum.  Or they used to, I don't know if they still do.

That looks like the type of work contractors perform on Delta aircraft.  Never use to be that way, you get what you pay for especially when you look the other way.

Sitting here watching the sis try and set up the new "smart" TV to replace the old TV which got electricuted.  TV's have come a long ways since we last bought one.  Our now expired TV was 10 or 11 years old and was what you'd call a "dumb" TV I guess.  Probably how it ended up electricuting itself.

Brandi's thought of the day:  The problem with "smart" TV's is that you have to be even smarter to operate them.  This can be a problem.

At Cola Classic they had these sandwiches that were just filled with a mix of cream cheese, bacon, and jalapenos. Thought I'd give it a try.

I make that stuff every new years only roll it up in a tortilla and then cut them into pinwheels.  Crazy delicious.  You should try it with garlic cream cheese too.
