Anyone know a place that has a good sized one? Howard Bros has 2000 watt, that is too small i think.

CHecked HD and lowes, each store I called had nothing.  Purpose of the thread is to find if anyone has current knowledge of a store that actually has them.

What exactly are you trying to run and what voltage ?
Maybe we can help with size calculations.

Well, they got the power back on out there.  But when this all blows over, I'm getting a decent generator.

Glad to hear you got power back.

I'm keeping my eye out for a predator or champion 3500 watt inverter myself for my dad.

There should be a flood of lightly used units at big box stores , Craigslist, eBay , etc. once the smoke clears.

my house has a Generac 10kw propane generator. I can't recommend it enough if the risk of outage is there. Power went out Monday night and within 20 seconds the whole house was back up without any input. The generator does a self test every week to make sure it's operational. Investment isn't cheap (well, mine was installed when I bought the house), but well worth it if outage is more than a remote chance or if medical needs merit it.

Onan 30kw here and runs ac. I would recommend getting a onan with a 6 cylinder motor which they can put out max I believe up to 45 kw and well worth the investment. I run mine on nat gas and love it. I would not want a v8 though it would run the gas bill up quite a bit more than my strait 6.

I'll bet yours also runs at 1800 rpm and is liquid cooled.

Big difference in fuel consumption 1800 vs 3600 if you can swing the $$.

Nice unit.

Yes 1800 rpms and liquid cooled.
Got it out of a dot auction for $1,000 bucks.
I think it had under 150 hours on it when I got it.
