I've got a unique bike. It's a 2000 or so cannondale mtn bike with the lefty shock and relatively new disc brakes. I think the parts might be worth more on eBay than the whole bike is. I'm guessing I could get 400-450 for the bike.

Has anyone ever done this? Aside from the pita factor am I right in thinking used quality components tend to be more saleable than the old bike?

I used to ride heavily until the last few years, generally speaking high quality or rare components can be worth more than the bike if you part it out. It might be worth doing the research on the parts, its generally only higher end shifters, derailleurs, hydro brakes, cranksets/bottom brackets, ect.

I am guessing there isn't much demand for 17 year old parts.  Bikes have changed A LOT since then.

Ended up selling it pretty quick. Thanks.

Suprisingly a lot of the components haven't changed all that much. A light quality aluminum frame back then is about the same weight as now.
