It's 2 bolts, 2 wires and about 30 minutes. Get a ride down to AutoZone in Hiram. It's really an easy fix.

You can always get one more "crank" if you have a hammer and know the sweet spot.

And the appropriate 4 letter incantations.
"Come on you FORD, crank!"

Howdy Joe, I know how you feel.  That is a real let-down feeling.  At 279,000+ miles, my Ford Ranger had the gall to have the alternator die on me while driving into work at fire department one AM.  I drove it until battery died too.  Spent the day fixing it.  First alternator (Bosch) died after an hour (bad regulator).  The second alternator (made in Mexico) is still going strong.

Let us know how you made out.

Starters are fairly easy to replace, but darkness adds to the difficulty.

Nothing that the barter system and a willing ARFCOMER couldn't take care of.  Can I say that in public?

Sure you can say that! I have plenty of Chevy parts laying around, that have never been needed. We could keep that old girl running for years putting quality Chevy parts on her to make up for the inferior parts Mexican parts that it came with.
