I'm going to my first 3-Gun match this weekend. Since I don't have an AR yet (or a shotgun), some of the guys in my Practical shooting club are going to load me the long guns I need for the match, all I have to do is supply the ammo. So where is the cheapest place to buy a box or two of .223 ammo

I only shoot Q3131A (M193 spec) or IMI M855. Dixie Firearms sells the Q for $180 a case. It's the best local deal on Q that I've found other than gun shows (sometimes) and Bass Pro when it's on sale. I'm working from home tomorrow and can swing by there if you want (they're only a few miles from my house). Then I could hook up with you Wed or Thur at ACM. If you're only buying a couple of boxes though, the price difference is negligible if you buy at Bass Pro or Galyan's.

$1280 for a case of Q? Is that a typo? Is a case 1000 rounds? If your just looking for 2 to 3 boxes of q3131a its about $4 a box of 20. Just go to a gun store and talk them down.

Definately Wally World for plinkin ammo. Yellow box Remington, 55 grn is good. If you want to go a little cheaper, get the white box Winchester 55 grn, 40 rd box. It chrono's about 200 fps slower, but still decent ammo.
