Lucky me, the wife has reservations for a house in Surf City for all next week. Weather forecast isn't too scary, have the wandering hordes stripped the grocery store shelves bare and sucked all the fuel out of the ground like they have to the south or are things continuing as normal? Any neat places to see off the beaten path while there?

I went to Walmart Monday evening and most of the water, Chef Boyardee, and much of the bread was gone. I have not checked since. Nobody seems to have bumrushed the gas stations. Gas is between $2.59 and $2.69.

Walmart will resupply quickly as the storm will miss the coast entirely.

Could be worse. My wife and I are taking our first vacation in 6 years next week. We decided on a cruise that departs Miami on the 16th and visits Nassau, San Juan and St. Maarten. I don't think any of those places exist any longer.

Thanks for the replies. So far, so good. Not very crowded, plenty of beer and peanuts. Little windy but no rain. Yet.

I'm in N Topsail, we got some wind but nothing horrible. Same with the rain.
