Rudders used to do 15 dollar transfers.  Not sure if it's still in effect, but give them a call.  Of course, remember that depending on where you live, and what you drive, it may eat up some of your cost savings to get to Butner.

i used to use him to, but then he told me he doesn't accept handguns from private sellers, and then tried to tell me it was federal law that a handgun had to be shipped from one FFL to another FFL.

Alan Liable is on Capital Ave. in Raleigh.  It's B&B shooters supplies.  And I believe he does 15 dollar transfers if you can meet him at his shop.  He's only open Wed. nights, and he does gun shows, but for an extra 15 dollars or so he will meet you there to do the transfer by appointment.  He'll probably be at the dixie deer classic.

would he receive the gun at his home and just meet me at the shop?  that sounds like a good plan, it'll probably be here tuesday.

I've not been charged tax on a transfer. I also get as many guns at one time as I like, same $25 fee. I call it a two fer' deal!
