A small group of us is trying to buy lowers and then every other month buy more parts until the rifle is complete. Has this group done this before? Any recommended triangle FFL's for this? How many lowers would it take to get a good group rate? I would like to believe we could get the lowers out the door for $100-$110 each if we buy enough.

eagle firearms does Stag stripped lowers for $90 (3 or more), so I think the $100 thing is close to doable.  I'm game...

RRA Lowers have a dealer cost at around 95 dollars.  I'm sure a smaller shop would be willing to work with you and get them for around 100 if you bought enough of them.  Maybe Red?  Maybe Rudders?

I don't have much experience with Stag, but I know RRA are very high quality.

Definately interested.  I would take at least 2.  State logo lower would be awesome!

I would possibly be interested in 1,2,3,4,5.....

It all depends on the design, but im up for 1 min.

I use Jim's Gun Shop in Cary for all my FFL needs.  he does transfers for 20.  can't find anywhere in Raleigh as cheap, or cheaper than that.

I'd be in for at least one.  Depending on the design, I bet I could recruit at least two more.

I'm in for one NC lower.

It sounds like we have a good start here. Including the guys I work with I'll want three or four at the minimum. Where do we go from here?

Sorry for the absence I have been in Vegas at the Shot show. How many lowers are we talking here? More of them the cheaper they become. Just keep in mind all dealers just got hit with there 06 price increase so even lowers carried over from last year have to be replaced at an 06 price now.

Heck I might be in for two depending on the price.
At least one for sure.
Are we seriously considering the NC state lower ? I think that would be cool.

Red,
Do you have a ball park estimate of the price breaks for lowers at several QTY levels?

Guys,
A state rifle would be nice but I'm afraid we will spend the next three months trying to decide on the logo when a group buy of standard lowers could have them in our hands in the next 30 days. If we can do it quickly I'm for it.

As for numbers I will put up a deposit for 4 lowers once a price is established.

I'm down for 3 regardless

Here are a couple of state symbols:

Or we could embrace our more evil pirate history!

I can't think of any good logos or writing to put on there right now, lets hear some ideas though!

I would be in for a state logo rifle.  I think an outline of the state with an AR through it, or an outline of the flag with a rifle superimposed would be cool as well.  Hell, the state seal looks nice.  Honestly, I'm not picky about the design.  I ordered a stripped RRA last week, and won't have the money to finish that build for a while (damn school ), so I don't need another one, but I would spring for the state rifle.

My thoughts: the state seal might be too complex to transfer into engraving well.  I could dig the stae flag

I honestly wouldn't mind this:

although that might not be very PC (a good thing?); just the redneck in me poking through

I just made this, hopefully you guys don't find it too Ghey cause I don't have mad skillz and I only have MSpaint.

Could they be two sided with a state flag on the other side?

I would be more apt. to buy something like this rather than the jolly roger bs. I can have likemopar do the jolly roger deal on any of my lowers.... I would rather than a NC represent image on the lower for this group buy IMO.

I also think they should be #'ed.

I'll take one with the NC State Seal on it, or my county sheriffs office seal.

Why don't we do TWO group buys,

1. Get the lowers deal together quickly
2. Group deal w/an engraving company for those so inclined

What say ye?

You know nothing involving the NC flag would touch the SC version when we start slapping the Palmetto on these lowers along with the Swamp Fox. Just kidding, that's a great idea and I'll be watching to see how the design turns out.
