Rep. Allen Farley, R-McCalla, who is retired from a law enforcement career and is the former assistant sheriff of Jefferson County, was the only Republican to vote against the bill.

Farley noted many sheriffs depend on the fees to help fund their operations and buy equipment.

"So let's be serious," Farley said. "What we're doing here is defunding the police."

This is the fucking asshole who promised me at that NRA meeting at Hoover Tactical that he would allow CC to come out of committee for a floor vote.

iirc that meeting was 5 years ago. He's a shit bag. You folks need to remember this come primary time. If no one runs against him write in someone.

Bullshit.  We're not defunding the police - we're defunding their personal slush fund.

I hope this passes this time even though I'm no longer an AL citizen.

I saw some sheriff on the news say they had to have permits because this one time, an officer pulled a fellah over, and he pulled a gun from his belt. The sheriff literally said, "if he had a permit we would have known he had a gun."

It was during some rally multiple sheriffs were holding against constitutional carry

That's a lie. There is no state wide system that ties in all the CCW permits. You can also only verify permits as being legit during regular sheriff office business hours.
@Bama-Shooter, I hope you're doing alright.
I'm very certain this is true.  There is no database and would you really want that anyway?

Did the duty to inform upon request also include the proposed right of law enforcement to inspect the weapon?

We've had a lot of elected officials convicted of felonies, including two governors in recent times.

The local news reported on the current special session. Their big takeaway was the introduction of a gambling bill, that seemed to be getting favorable reviews. I thought, if they pass a !@#$% gambling bill and don't pass CC, then there's proof of ineptitude, idiocy, and corruption IMHO.

Just signed by Kay Ivy.

Governor signs permitless concealed carry bill into law

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Gov. Kay Ivey has signed the bill that eliminates the requirement of a state permit to carry a concealed handgun.

She signed the bill Thursday shortly after its final passage in the Statehouse.

“Unlike states who are doing everything in their power to make it harder for law abiding citizens, Alabama is reaffirming our commitment to defending our Second Amendment rights,” Ivey said in a statement. “I have always stood up for the rights of law abiding gunowners, and I am proud to do that again today

The permitless carry proposal was championed by gun rights advocates who argue people should not have to get a permit to carry a concealed handgun.

This is pretty nice, and the fact that Ivey will not get my vote makes it even better. I was told its a great thing as long as you don't travel and if you do and want to carry you need to go to another constitutional carry state or have a CCP.

Still not going to change anything. Still need a cc permit in other states, most ranges require a cc permit to be members.

Local Montgomery news station ran a "there's going to be blood in the streets now" story tonight. Sheriffs are pouting and still pushing fear.
