This bill seeks to allow political subdivisions (parish, city, etc.) to enact stricter gun laws during declared emergencies.

This bill seeks to prohibit gun seizure/confiscation from homes, boats, cars, business owners, etc. during declared emergencies.

Both bills were proposed by Danny Martiny from Metairie (district 79).

I was just about to post this.  I am going to call and I would like to get as many others to call as possible.  The first bill listed is VERY BAD!  It allows them to basically put your guns on lockdown during ANY state of emergency.  This means that unless you are in your home or an extension thereof, you can't be armed.  This would set a horrible precedent for not only LA, but for the entire country.  We MUST stop this!

Time to get the word out, folks.

It seems the NRA has taken notice to the same thing happening in N.O. after Katrina.

It does not make sense that the same person wrote both bills.

What will make even less sense is if both bills pass

I doubt it will happen, but you never know...

Take a look at www.thenewsstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060320/NEWS01/603200326/1002

None of that is really necessary, they need to find something better to do with their time
