I was just wanting to know where the Bama people are from. I myself reside in Montgomery and was wondering if any others are around my area and shoot at Wire Road or anywhere else. Anyone from Gadsden? Just wondering if anyone else is shooting from my birth town. If you are near Montgomery go by WCI, what used to be Jay's. Right now they have umc 223 for $2.99 a box and all other umc cheaper than Wally world. Take care and stay safe.

Yes, the HGC is still on the Glasscock property. They had some tree people clearcutting some of it earlier this year and the 100yd range was closed. THey discontinued the cutting temporarily and both the 50yd and 100yd are open for now. I'd like the HGC to up the dues or charge an assessment to spiff up the place a little. The berms are shot up pretty bad and too small IMO. If they finish clearcutting the trees theres nothing to prevent 250 yard targets on the hill behind the range except lack of will to climb up.

Anyway, its cheap and functional.

Living here in Montgomery. But it is always fun going to the shoots at FOP. Around Montgomery - I shoot with a buddy of mine at a private range near Mt. Miegs (off from exit 16 on 85). I keep telling myself I am going to take the plunge and build a black rifle so I don't feel out of place - but the decisions...
Link Posted: 10/11/2003 10:32:19 PM EDT
sniper69 maybe we can do shooting up at wire road sometime. I have a black rifle you can use.

I'm a few miles outside of Gadsden.

I'm thinking about going to the range in a few hours.

15 minutes south of Huntsville, have great shooting spots in the backwoods less than 10 minutes from my house. Just got back from shooting 30.06, .223.& M1 carbine. If anyone is interested I have four canoes & four kayaks, will make available with my knowledge of local backwaters on Tenn river for a campout. I go all the time. Same for shooters.

Also in Montgomery. I'm afraid I'm not a member of that private range in Waugh or whatever, so I have no place local to shoot....
Link Posted: 10/22/2003 5:37:12 PM EDT
Avtomat, maybe we can go up to Wire Road and shoot some. There is a show in Montgomery Nov 1-2 I believe. Send me an email.

45boy, where is wire road? I usually go shooting at a private range. If you go to gunworks or to the gun shop (arms outpost) at forest hills they would have info on how much it is to join etc. Nice place. Also going to the shoots that go on at FOP (thanks again for the apple butter, mona), are a lot of fun and a way to meet members from both bama and georgia. I've got to meet some nice people there, just wish I could remember everyones names, lol.

Sniper69, I know Hal at Arms Outpost and I know Doug over at Gunworks. Wire road is Tuskeegee National Forest Range. $20 a year or $2 day passes.

How far from Decatur? Are you out around Priceville? I've taken many a class in south Huntsville (Hobbs Island Road). I shoot at the Hartselle Gun Club, pretty much at the intersection of 67 and 36.
