A guy on another forum said this...

I live in MD. You can carry a gun in public if it's not concealed. Only concealed handguns require a permit in MD.

which I'm pretty sure I debunked with this

Carrying without a Permit/License
Date updated: Aug 26, 2005 @ 9:30 pm
Article 27 SEC. 36B.
Any person who shall wear, carry, or transport any handgun, whether concealed or open, upon or about his person, and any person who shall wear, carry, or knowingly transport any handgun, whether concealed or open, in any vehicle traveling upon the public roads, highways, waterways, or airways or upon roads or parking lots generally used by the public in this State shall be guilty of a misdemeanor

and this

there are some exceptions. For example, I'm a certified range officer at the club I belong to. If I wish, I may apply for and get a CCW permit. Same thing with persons that are certified instructors. There are exceptions, but they are few indeed. Also I had a buddy that regularly carried sales receipts from his store to the bank, he got a CCW permit. When I spent time as a jewelry photographer, I was told by a LEO friend that I would probably be able to get a CCW if I had to escort more than $10,000 worth of jewelry out of the clients place. In fact, I often carried over $100,000 worth of jewelry to my studio with no more protection than my homely face to discourage a mugging. It worked for 15 years. Now adays I would get a CCW permit if I did the same sort of transports.

Not sure I have heard that instructor thing around here as I'm sur there are a few guys who are and don't carry.

Also, and this is just a comparison... how could someone justify a person caryring to protect $10,000 in jewelry but not to protect the >10,000 they are driving?

Well, that answer is going to be "that's what we have insurance for"

Jewelry stores aren't insured? If someone has jewerly that amounts to that much and they don't have it deserved then they're frickin idiots.

Tell that guy to experiment by actually trying open carry in MD, then see if he can post about it from jail.

There is nothing in the ccw statute about RO/instructor.  I know 1 person who has one because he collects/sells guns as a side business, BUT in MD they will restrict your license to the purpose it was given. So if you have a cash business, you can only carry when you are transporting your receipts.  If you're out at dinner with the Mrs. and get busted somehow for having a gun then it's just like you didn't have a license.

I personally think its full of crap, I think everyone shold be allown to carry CCW if they pass the test. I would favor to have it "SHALL issue"

but I think they would discrimiate me based on my hearing loss since I am fully deaf and i dont speak in english, only in sign lanuage.

However, after owning several handguns and AR-15. I dont see why we cant get a CCW. Those people who voted nay are idiots when something happens to them.

just like the Ex- Mayor in DC who got robbed by some thugs, but declared that he didnt want to do anything with it. that is a full of crap ..
