Well, I'm not a MinneSNOWtan, but I can't say enough about how nicely a Kahr carries in an IWB holster strong side. I carry a P40 in a Bianchi #100 IWB holster and you really forget it's there. During the winter it's pretty easy to carry just about anything you want, but in the summer is where the small FLAT guns really shine.

I really like a Glock 27 more than anything else, but since you've ruled that out.. I'd also highly recommend a Kahr.. I've got a K9 Elite and I can comfortably shoot +P+ ammo in it all day long.. great trigger, reliable, and extremely accurate.. only downside is the relatively (7+1) small capacity.

I use a .25 Excam auto in an ankle rig.
Ok.. really I've been using a Colt Govt. .380 this summer in an Uncle Mike's IWB, carried small of back. This winter I'll transition to a Colt Govt. .45. Holster choice is still up for grabs, currently I have a cheapo shoulder rig, but I'm looking. |

After taking my CCW class from DE, I have decided to stick with the tried-true 1911. (I have a springfield I just love to take to the range)
I have an el-cheapo Triple-K holster that worked well for the class, but, I see alot of the plastic Uncle Mike's rigs. Alot of Glockers like them. I am just wondering if the plastic hard-shell waistband Uncle Mikes are any good for long term use. -Warlock |

Just make sure your CCW gun isn't something that you want to baby, or preserve for the next 50 years as an heirloom. Your CCW gun *WILL* Get holster wear on its finish, scratches, etc... A CCW gun only has to be reliable, and accurate; Not Pretty.
I recommend the Comp-Tac holsters, as my family could never tell I was carrying around them, and they never noticed a thing. No significant bulge or anything. With the Shirt-Tucker model it's not necessary to wear a "vest" or untucked shirt, and it fits in quite nicely with office business casual or semi-formal dress as well. It can be used as a normal IWB in summer clothes as well. I bit pricey, but I thought it was well worth the money for mine. YMMV. No one carries a wheel gun. small frame .38 Spec or a .three five seven??
Me being a little small in the ass and gut it would be hard to conceal a full sized 1911. I always think about the "print" w/ something that size. Would stick out like a sore thumb. |

After getting back into shooting/reloading 9mm, I am now leaning toward my Springfield XD9. It is a bit smaller than the glock 17.
I will check out the comp-tac rig. I am looking at an inside waist band holster at the moment. |

I've been carrying a S&W J frame most of the summer, lately I've been switching over to a Colt Delta in 10mm, or a Glock 17, or a Colt Commander, or a 2" .357mag, or... I think you could carry a Desert Eagle 50AE up here in the winter and nobody would know. You'd have to have a good chiropractor though. FedGunner, or anyone else who's interested, check Pistolsmith.com's "Holsters and Belts" forum for some good holster ideas, etc. Lots of holster makers post there. I have rigs from both Gary Brommeland and Lou Alessi, they're both excellent... -UJ |

Springfield 1911 (SS Mil-spec) in a Wilson Combat Featherweight IWB holster. I must admit, though, I have my eye on a Browning Hi Power Mk III....

Springfield XD9. Nice gun, shoots were pointed and has never malfunctioned even when mixing FMJ and JHP from various mfg. in the same mag.
You can tell if a round is chambered and the gun is cocked in total darkness. Has 3 safeties (trigger, grip ala 1911, and firing pin block) yet you do not need to flip any of them off. Just point and shoot. I find it easy to handle both strong and week handed. DonT |

Some day I'll get my CCW and I'll either carry a 88 magnum (ala Joe Piscapoe) or for all out street warfare, it'd have to be a Jennings street hoe gat special.
