If you have a CCDW can you carry an "Automatic Knife"? I looked at packing.org and the law does not specifically name "Automatic Knives".

"Automatic" and "push button" are interchangable terms for both front opening and side opening.

Automatics are Deadly Weapons under the KRS and we have Concealed Deadly Weapons permits so the answer is yes. Automatic is the PC name for a good old fashioned switchblade.

In KY, the only deadly weapon that you cannot carry with a permit is brass knuckles. These are prohibited.

Also, a knife w/ a blade greater than 3" is considered a deadly weapon. Carrying one concealed without a permit can get you in trouble.

Any knife other than a "normal" pocket knife or hunting knife is considered a deadly weapon in Kentucky regardless of the blade length.Who is to define "normal"?I beleive Louisville has a seperate ordinance on Auto knives.I don't know if they are covered by CCW in Louisville.CCW in Kentucky is for deadly weapons, not just firearms.I got mine in paticular for the knives I carry, which include Auto knives. While I attended the class the instructor did state that brass knuckles were considered a concealed deadly weapon if you did not have a CCW,but he never said were not allowed to be carried with a CCW.SJR556.

BPR, I believe you're mistaken. From the KSP website:
http://www.kentuckystatepolice.org/conceal.htm

What weapons are covered under the CCDW permit?

*

Any weapon from which a shot, readily capable of producing death or serious physical injury, may be discharged.
*

Any knife other than an ordinary pocket knife or hunting knife.
*

Billy, nightstick, or club.
*

Blackjack or slapjack.
*

Nunchaku karate sticks.
*

Shiriken or death star.
*

Artificial knuckles made from plastic, or other similar hard material.
