I think a lot of all this uproar is how things are approached and how things are worded.
I think its ridiculous to "mandate under executive order to wear masks". I'd have much much more respect for them if they said "we highly recommend it, for these reasons (present facts)". Forcing people to do anything, even if it is for their / our good, will only make them rebel. With government coming at us with half-truths and the media pushing an agenda will only make us skeptical. When coupled with people in power trying to gain as much as possible from this virus, you get a recipe for disaster.
I personally wear a mask in public, but only started recently. The biggest reason is because you get all the judging eyes from the sheep on you, and that smart-a** in line (who you are staying away from) come up to you to give you a piece of mind. I'd rather blend in and not be noticed if possible. Look at the people who get berated for wearing MAGA hats for example. With all the fear and panic the media is pushing, this will only exacerbate the issue.
With media pushing the doom-and-gloom agenda, things are not going to get better until the facts are overwhelmingly against them, and we the people have enough.
Oh, and don't even get me started on the people who will wear a mask in the stores, but wont even pay attention to the one-way isles that stores put in. If you choose to follow one protocol to help the issue, you should adhere to all. Not just the ones you want.
