Just a reminder if you go to the casinos, those are not part of CT and you cannot carry there.

Indian reservations are not part of the USA. They are separate nations.

Yeah, I'm somewhat familiar with the Youngstown area. Go in and out of there occasionally.

Ok, so I lied about my trip to New London being in a few months. It was actually over the weekend.
First and foremost, what a fucking DUMP. You guys weren't kidding. I did hit a lot of the attractions and restaurants that people here suggested, so I appreciate all the input! Although I think that Steak Loft was underwhelming. I will avoid that area of Connecticut if I come back again. Considering what I paid for my non-resident permit the wife and I are thinking about coming back to see what the rest of the state has to offer. |

Taken from neighborhood scout The crime rate in New London is considerably higher than the national average across all communities in America from the largest to the smallest, although at 29 crimes per one thousand residents, it is not among the communities with the very highest crime rate. The chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime in New London is 1 in 34. Based on FBI crime data, New London is not one of the safest communities in America. Relative to Connecticut, New London has a crime rate that is higher than 95% of the state's cities and towns of all sizes. Importantly, when you compare New London to other communities of similar population, then New London crime rate (violent and property crimes combined) is quite a bit higher than average. Regardless of how New London does relative to all communities in America of all sizes, when NeighborhoodScout compared it to communities of similar population size, its crime rate per thousand residents stands out as higher than most. Now let us turn to take a look at how New London does for violent crimes specifically, and then how it does for property crimes. This is important because the overall crime rate can be further illuminated by understanding if violent crime or property crimes (or both) are the major contributors to the general rate of crime in New London. For New London, we found that the violent crime rate is one of the highest in the nation, across communities of all sizes (both large and small). Violent offenses tracked included rape, murder and non-negligent manslaughter, armed robbery, and aggravated assault, including assault with a deadly weapon. According to NeighborhoodScout's analysis of FBI reported crime data, your chance of becoming a victim of one of these crimes in New London is one in 176. Significantly, based on the number of murders reported by the FBI and the number of residents living in the city, NeighborhoodScout's analysis shows that New London experiences one of the higher murder rates in the nation when compared with cities and towns for all sizes of population, from the largest to the smallest. NeighborhoodScout's analysis also reveals that New London's rate for property crime is 24 per one thousand population. This makes New London a place where there is an above average chance of becoming a victim of a property crime, when compared to all other communities in America of all population sizes. Property crimes are motor vehicle theft, arson, larceny, and burglary. Your chance of becoming a victim of any of these crimes in New London is one in 42. Importantly, we found that New London has one of the highest rates of motor vehicle theft in the nation according to our analysis of FBI crime data. This is compared to communities of all sizes, from the smallest to the largest. In fact, your chance of getting your car stolen if you live in New London is one in 383. |

Just happy I got in and out of there without any major issues. I definitely won't be coming back.
Booked a place through Air BnB and the lady obviously must have got the place for the price of a VCR. Threw a coat of paint on everything (including electric baseboard heaters, outlets, etc.) and started renting it out. I was being a cheap ass and not wanting to shell out the cash for a hotel in Groton (although I wasn't overly impressed with the 'neighborhood' there either). Lesson learned. Anyways, a lot of the areas we drove through in CT on our way looked like safe, beautiful places to live. If we wander our way back we will try to see the middle and upper half of the state. Also, I'll take the folks up on meeting up to shoot with them. Next time I'll give more notice! Thanks to all of those who gave good input on this thread! Even though Steak Loft was overrated |

They use a great deal of salt on the roads in winter, however. I suspect this is a direct result of communists in city hall. Anyone that thinks it’s a low risk small city is looney toons. I’ve lived in New Haven and Waterbury. Shit holes, but New London is skeevy. Many of the neighboring towns are very nice. Except parts of Uncasville. They build crooked houses there. |
