I'm just checking in before I purchase this.  It appears to me (at least, from what I've read in 53-202a) that this is, but I just wanted to check in with CT AR owners to be certain.
Upper receiver

Also, any opinions on this?  This will be my first AR.

You should be Ok so long as your lower isn't on the list.

The link you posted goes to a page showing clearly, a POST BAN upper with no bayonet stud, no externally threaded muzzle. (orer # DT 1010 20" upper)

In that configuration you are legal if assembling on a post ban receiver

What list are you referring to?  I thought the only lower we (in CT) are prohibited from owning is from Colt.

To steveinct, I know it's listed as a Post Ban, it's just a habit of mine to CMA (a byproduct of working at the casinos here in CT).

Legal but not that sexy. I would do a post ban with a muzzle break and a detachable carry handle. But that is me. If it works for what you want then go for it. 100% legal.

Timmee,

the first section of the law lists rifles like FN FAL, AK47, Colt Sporter etc............

As far as AR's go, only Colt is on the list. (if my memory is correct) just look up 53-202

It's also important to remember that the CT 1993 law bans three TYPES:

AK (currently interpreted to mean in 7.62x39 only)

Thompson (currently only the Auto Ordnance/Khar clone)

MAC Carbine

Everything else is a MODEL SPECIFIC ban.

Other than the notes above the rule is the 1994 fed ban cosmetic restrictions (no bayo lug/no externally threaded muzzle, and must have a fixed stock) and the gun is fine.

There is no mag capacity restriction in CT as this is written.

Call Gov. Rell to oppose SB 304 that will ban blued handguns from POSSESSION

Thought the Thompson is one of the "types" which would mean any clone?  If not is there one that is legal to own?

The former Demro TAC  carbine which was a crude knock off  very loosely based on the Thompson's
external profile and used, I believe M-3 mags/MAC 10 mags (?)

There was one for sale a year ago at Cubetas on the used rack and the dealer specifically said it
was legal.
