So what are they, and how do they work? Is there a "make my day law" like in CO? Can I defend myself, family and home with a firearm legally? Thanks in advance

Let's put it this way.....If someone comes in my house and gets past my Akita, they won't get past my Sig 220

From a sitting judge.."You have a right to assume lethal force if someone enters you home at night." Daytime would be the same, I'm sure with a threat.

That is right from the judge's mouth!

Note your right to bear arms in defense of YOURSELF before even the State

Article 16.
That the people have a right to bear arms for the defence of themselves and the State--and as standing armies in time of peace are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be kept up; and that the military should be kept under strict subordination to and governed by the civil power.
